which would you rather train
which would you rather train
This weekend while doing some training at my buddies game farm,my bitch eva started to back bracemates
by the sound of there beeper collar once they went on point.
I found this interesting, but she has presented many different challenges in her training as she is almost too smart, for her own good.
So I ask, would you rather have a smart dog,or a dog who does not think as much?

Smart dog any day. The other kind make great robotic dogs for those who like that kind of animal though.

Ideally one in the middle, smart enough to learn and retain training, but not smart enough to think they know more than me. But if having to have one extreme or the other, I'd take an overly clever hound any day, they may drive you nuts in training and competition but the usually make the best bird dogs.

I want the most brilliant dog I can get. Let someone else get the dummies. There is no such thing as too smart a dog.
LIFE WITHOUT BIRD DOGS AND FLY RODS REALLY ISN'T LIFE AT ALL.
Re: which would you rather train
Go with brains. It can get embarrassing trying to teach your dog while out on a hunt only to learn the dog knew something you didn't and was trying to help you understand it.

I would take either, because they will teach you about dogs and working them. Thanks Jonesy
