I'm trying to perfect the handling of my dogs. They understand my hand signals to a point. If I give them a hand signal to the left they will head in that general direction but not straight left. If I send them back they go back but not in such a straight line.
They have alot of room to improve and I was wondering how you work on the dogs holding the line and running as straight as they can in any given direction.

You must not be following a program. I'd buy either Evan Graham's DVD's or Fowl Dawgs and follow it.
But to answer your question, it's done on a handling T with piles of bumpers. For long straight cast, you put the dog in the center and put your bumpers 50 yards out on each leg of the T. The further out you place them, the further and straighter the dog will cast. In general, it can be said that if you need a fifty yard cast either to the left or right, you're in trouble and something is amiss.
