Any recommendations on a no chew spray?
Any recommendations on a no chew spray?
My dog likes to chew on everything. Right now he sleeps on an old comforter that he's torn to shreds. I'm afraid of getting him a nice dog bed because I know he will tear it up. Anyone had any luck with the no chew sprays that are available?

I've heard Old Spice deodorant works well.

Go to your nearest dog supply dealer and get some bitter apple spray. Pleasant smelling, but they hate it.

I have used Bitter Apple. Never found it to stain. Only drawback I could see was I had to do frequent treatments on areas I wanted to protect.

How old is your dog? I wouldn't buy any kind of NEW bed while he is still chewing things apart. Big waste of money.
Use the Black kongs and sparys like Bitter Apple or YUCK. If you live near a feed store try some of the horse cribbing sprays. I used a can of NO CHEW spray for horses many years ago that worked very well.

Simply tell the dog "no" and mean it when you catch him chewing. I did that with Bodie and he quit completely by the time he was 3! Glad I could help!

Re: Any recommendations on a no chew spray?
Dogs chew for a variety of reasons. You might say it is a priority in their mind, and it is natural and necessary. Why not stop the dog from chewing what you don't want it to chew and give it something that is okay to chew. So far you have allowed the dog to chew the comforter that is your dogs first chew toy. You can not expect your dog to differentiate what is a chew toy from a blanket if you let it chew the blanket. When the dog chews something you don't want it to chew, let it know its not acceptable and replace it with something that is.

Don't ask me, mine ate them all... Bitter Apple, Orange, Tabasco, Old Spice. But for some reason will not chew on a kong no matter what it has in it. We have found that time and bully sticks to keep him entertained have helped.

He is 7 months. If only it were that easy to catch when he's chewing. He is not an inside dog. The comforter he chewed up was originally lining the inside walls of his dog house and he pulled it off and tore it up. Thanks to all on the recommendations of sprays and such.
Edit: And he has plenty of chew toys. I even tried to make one more interesting by hiding a piece of food in it so he'd be preoccupied with that.
