Beeper collar question

My dog had a good first season finally locking up on point during the end of the season. Now I realize that I need to get a beeper, will the beeper affect him or distract while on point or will i have to condition for the beep?

What you might consider is the purchase of a Dogtra or DT Train & Beep Collar, the collar can be controlled by the ower/master from the transmitter.
These collars have many different modes and can be set up to do most any job you desire.

Just turn it on while he's running and he'll forget about it. If he starts acting sheepish just ignore him and keep walking, his drive to find birds will overcome his fear and he'll get over it.

if the dog does get a bit nervous with it on, some yard training and conditioning similar to whoa training will help out.

I hang one on the kennel and turn it on while feeding and cleaning,they won't notice in no time.The older dog's will get excited ,and think they are going hunting.

I use two toots to turn dog or send him on, which caused a small problem when using a beeper collar as a locator while the dog was on point. The collar came on with two short beeps and caused the dog to move. It took a couple of sessions for him to realize the difference between a beep and a toot.
