http://www.georgehickox.com/ check out this site read published article it will be a good start. His video explains how to do this. Basically take a pigeon lock its wings and give it to the dog let the dog investigate it sniff, handle it play with it. Once you are sure the dog is not afraid of the bird rubber band the wings or pull the flight feathers. Throw it for the dog and let the dog chase it. It is best to do this in an enclosed area so the pigeon can not get far from the dog. I use a piece of snow fence and make a small corral to keep the action going. Make it fun for the dog no pressure. You might want to get a few birds for this sometimes they get away.

Never saw a 12 week old pup that had a problem with a pigeon. Restrain the pigeon from flying so the pup can chase and catch the bird and you should be ready to go. Normal puppies don't have problems with smaller birds. Have fun.
