Looking for a reputable trainer

Post by jcbuttry8 » Thu Jul 14, 2011 8:46 am

HEllo all

I was hoping to get some advice on a reputable trainer for a pointer. My pup is only 4 mos old but you can never start the search to early. I live in pa and was hoping to find someone close to me.

Also if anyone knows of any good seminars going on up here that would be great to.

Hi Joe,

I also live in Bucks County, PA. We go to NJ every weekend to train with Bob Corsaro. Depending on where we are training its anywhere from an hour to an hour and a half ride which isn't bad considering sometimes it takes much longer to go to NAVHDA training days ect. Bob works with various breeds including GSP's, DK's, Pointers, Setters ect. He has 30 years experience and he is involved with NAVHDA, NADKC and the AKC. He is extraordinarily knowledgeable and I can't possibly say enough good things about him. I highly recommend him. His email is nobelleknl@aol.com.

As an aside, I keep a blog on our training and often talk about Bob and show some of the things we work on with him. He does a great job of assessing what your goals are for you and your dog and helps you achieve them. Ours happens to be the UT test this fall. Wooohoo! Bucks County in the hizzzousse!

I go up to Long Eddy NY to train.

Also, have you thought about NAVHDA? We are thinking about going to one of the clubs' big Saturday events in two weekends. Where in Bucks are you located? We are going to a club that typically meets on 422 in Birdsboro, PA.

I am in Levittown. I am swamped the next two weekends with lacrosse. Kids need attention too. I would love to find fellow big runners to put kona out with. So far she has been doing it solo. She may get the idea to stretch a little if she sees someone else at it. I figured there had to be more of my type in bucks county. I would spend everyday in the field with her if I didn't think it would cost me my marriage.

I second what Robyn said about Bob, he trains you as much as the pup....

No fair, why do all you other PA people live on the wrong side of the state! We need to plan a training event for us east coasters like the guys are having in the midwest.

If you want to be very involved in the training, work your dog on weekends, etc., Pete DeAngelis would be my first choice. http://www.longviewkennels.com He's in Slatington and trains in Zionsville, so not far from you at all. He's a retired American Field Pro, so has been training pointers for 30+ years. Jeanette Tracy would be a very close 2nd (PM me for her contact information). She's in Glenville, PA, south of York. We were down to see her place last weekend....VERY impressive setup.
