				Hawx E-collar

I am looking into purchasing an e-collar soon and trying to do my homework. I have it narrowed down to the SportDog 1825 or TT G3 Sport or the TT 90 (cost is an issue for the 90). I stumbled across this Hawx brand and has quite impressive feature list for quite a bit less in money. Anyone have any experience with these collars. I must admit, I like having the possible gun mounted correction if needed....but sometimes, technology does not help.
Any thoughts on a true needed range for a GSP? I assume more is better, but giving shooting range, true working distance and the more flat terrain...I hope to be hunting SD and MN this season with her (she will be right at 1 yr at that time) and maybe a Christmas hunt in Tx panhandle so the terrain is not to crazy.

I would also probably stick with a TT or SportDog collar. I honestly don't know much about the Hawx collars other then what I read on their website. I think they look a tad bit gimmicky, but thats just me. The gun mounted control seems dangerous. Even with the gun mounted control you'll be fumbling to get the button if you need it. I'd rather be fumbling to get the transmitter from around my neck or coat clip then fumbling with a loaded gun.
As you stated the more range the better. Even MN and SD will have some hilly terrain. It's not so much the shooting range as it is your dog chasing a deer, rabbit, etc...a dog chasing something can cover a lot of ground very quickly. Before you know it your dog is past the range of the collar, onto a highway and struck by a car.
Good collars last a very long time so invest a little bit more money up front

I used Tritronics for many years. I switched to the Dogtra 2500BT and couldn't be happier. You might want to Google it up.

I have the hawks transmitter that also doubles as a launcher transmitter, it is the cheapest receiver I have ever seen, on top of that many people are having all kinds of trouble with them. I would avoid the hawks e-collar unless its being given to you.
