Book Recommendation?

Post by Ghosted3 » Tue Jul 03, 2012 12:54 am

I am looking for a training book for flushers. I have a book about the "secrets of springers" but it doesnt really go too much into detail about training too much. Any feedback would be much appreciated, thanks.

HUP by James Spencer or Training Spanials by Kenneth Robuck.
Can usually find afforadable on E-Bay, under gun dog training.

if you want a no nonsense basic book I got The Gundog Training Course by Eric Begbie on my Kindle for 2.99 its a short basic book but it helped me a lot. It don't really get into quartering or anything like that but explains how to teach the commands you will need in the field very good

for 2.99 its worth a read

I guess I am a little biased as I spent nearly 15 years with the group and held the training directors job for ( 4 ) as well as becoming a judge under the AHDC system. I have read a lot of material and bought some highly touted DVD programs from others and honestly they don't hold a candle to the " orange book ". Is it the end all ? Nope, but as far as being descriptive it can't be beat and if you don't like something about certain steps modify it to your liking.
