If you could only buy one book for training a versatile bird dog, which one would it be?

For which kind of dog, flusher or pointer? I can only speak on the flusher part and I would have to say Tom Dokken's Retriever Training:The Complete Guide to Developing Your Hunting Dog. It is very well laid out, some good pictures in case there may be some misunderstandings ect. A very well written book in my opinion.

It's not how many breaths you have taken but how many times it has been taken away!

Has anyone noticed common sense isn't very common anymore.

Chuck Johnson's Training the Versatile Hunting Dog.
Never try to teach a pig to sing. It wastes your time and annoys the pig.

Given I haven't ready any of the books mentioned so far, I have about 5 books, and out of all of them I really like Maurice Lindley's "Training With Mo" and would follow that up with Jerome Robinson's "The Ultimate Guide to Bird Dog Training"

It would be foolish to say that one book is the best over another . Reading many will give you an idea of different training philosophies and allow you to make an educated decision on what is best for you. Where to start for me would be to recommend Culture clash by Jean Donaldson. this book delves into the science of canine behavior and how dogs learn. It will give you a good base line on how do decipher a good training plan. You can get it on amazon for around ten dollars .or http://codeazur.com.br/pix/blogs/CultureClash.pdf.
