Water is water, right?

This miiiiiiight be one of the most ridiculous questions asked in here, so here we go....

Due to the drought here in Texas, ponds are few and far between. Howeverrrrrr, there is one at the golf course near by. It does have that eggish smell that stagnant rainwater gets. I have confirmed the water is untreated rainwater that is collected for irrigation. Our club's training area is covered in a pretty green algae and the dogs romp around in that all weekend with no apparent effects.

So, here is my question. Is the dog in any danger swimming in that stank "bleep" water? HA!

I just sat here for about 10 minutes reading this and am reluctant to hit the submit button. Oh well, have your way with me.

It might be alright but I would not let my dog's anywhere near it. That green algae can kill aq dog.

Yep, blue-green algae can kill a dog. I'd likely stay away from the pond as well.

Agreed. Algae can be bad.

Agreed on the algae, but also I'd avoid it because I'm sure that water is chalk full of fertilizer and other chemicals. Ever seen a three legged frog at a golf course. I have!

Yes, this is the first thing that I thought of, golf courses use a lot of chemicals.

Regular algae is not a problem but the blue green will kill them quickly. I sure wouldn't feel competent to tell if there was any of that mixed in with the other algae. It is up to you but I think you got good advice from the previous posts.
