Vizsla Trainers

Post by cbump » Sun Oct 28, 2012 6:31 am

Hi, I live in Texas and will have a new Vizsla pup in early January. Just looking for recommendations on a trainer that has experience in V's or versatile dogs. I'd like my dog to dove and duck hunt as well as do upland work. Would also like her to hunt squirrels eventually but not a top priority. I'd also like to do hunt tests in both retrieving and pointing. The trainer does not necessarily have to be in Texas.
Also, at what age would you send a Vizsla to formal training and what should I work on with the dog up until that time?

Thanks

Is this your first bird dog? How much experience do you have training?

I would check with Lin Kozlowski in Missouri. She may know someone closer to you. She herself is really good with Vizsla's.
Google everedi vizsla's

Where in Texas are you? I will be in Crockett starting next month. Also, where are you getting your V from?

Hi, I am up in North Texas, just west of Fort Worth. If you take a look at my post in the Introduction forum I posted who I am getting the pup from. He is going to help me out some in the early stages with training also.

I looked but I don't know him. Thanks for the info as I'm always looking for more connections when it comes to this breed. You are welcome to come down to Crockett when he's old enough.
