I used that for many years. Very reliable. I now use the Dogtra 2500 T/B as I wanted a locator feature.

I would go to the pro models like 70 or 90. I have a TT 90 an 100. The transmitter is larger and so easy to operate. I see alot guys with sport models struggle with timing due to size of puttons. They will never admit it but its true

The 2500 T/B could be a great collar the only issue I see is the fact the collar is on the inside of the reciever pulling not on the outside pushing to make contact. I like Dogtra over TT just have had less issues with the Dogtra's over the years. I use to be hard core TT but I have sent to many back over the years.

I love my 2500 and 2502s and run them much more than my TTs.

Ask how old the battery is. A new battery will run you another $35.+-

I like TT and Dogtra equally.

Lots of opinions here:

Looking for a collar myself. The Dogtra 2500 T/B looks real nice but I do not know if I will like the beeper for grouse hunting and that is what I will be doing mostly.
I'd like my brittany to work close in the thick stuff of north Minnesota.
Anyone have thoughts on this? I could cut the cost by lots without the beeper and that would help in this house.

In the grouse woods I run a beeper on point only mode and a bell around his collar. The bell isn't as necessary since the beeper has a locate feature, but it's nice to have a constant location on the dog.

Straight up; the best e-collar on the market is the Tri Tronics Pro 500 G3. Second place is well behind. But you must decide what you need for your purposes. If you want the best, that's it.

How's the 500 different than the 100?

The 500 has 18 continuous and 18 momentary levels. It is easy to use. I recently purchased one.

I had a sport series but lately, with gloves on, I've been wondering why my dog won't make any change when I'm wanting to hit the buttons. I don't think I was reaching the buttons with gloves on.

Assuming the dial is still 6 levels and the red buttons are cont. and the black is mom. how do you achieve 18 mom. levels?

Never mind. I think I was confused by the pic Evan posted. I think that may be the 100. I checked out the sight and see there is a toggle switch between con. and mom. Cool system.

There is a low and medium button, the two black buttons and you achieve high by pressing both at the same time. Like you mentioned, you can toggle between continuous and momentary.
