Pointing Labs in Minneapolis

I just wanted to see if there is anyone on this forum that trains their own pointing labs here in Minneapolis? There are a couple members in Lake Country RC (which I joined this past week) that have pointing labs, but it would be nice to see if there are others around the area as well.

Thanks,
Justin

What makes a pointing lab point as opposed to a normal lab that flushes?

Do you train a pointing lab differently than other pointing breeds?

You might want to get ahold of David at Sauk River Labradors (in Osakis). He might know of a few folks in your area.

The "pointy dog" training of a PL is very similar to the training for any other pointing dog.
The 'trick' is to find the right balance between the Retriever training and the Ponting training.
Because these dogs are Labs, we want them to be able to do everything that a Lab does and
then point as well.

It's purely genetic.

Which disipline do you teach first, Point or Retrrive.

1. Bird introduction (prey drive)
2. Beginner pointy stuff
3. Retriever stuff
4. Pointy dog finesse
5. Blending of the disciplines
