Poudr River Pointing Lab Training DVDs

Post by LabGuy » Wed Mar 20, 2013 12:11 pm

Anyone here ever use the videos that Gary Buys put out? They are focused towards pointing labs, but I am sure could be applied elsewhere. Just wanted to see if anyone has any experience with his program and if its worth buying.

Gary is a friend of mine, but in addition to his DVDs (good for all pointy dogs),
"Training the Pointing Labrador", by Julie Knutson is an amazing book.
DON'T let the title fool ya --- it's a great program for ANY pointy dog.

Julie's book is with me at all times right now. I have been following it pretty closely. I was just thinking of picking up Gary's "Complete Upland Training" DVD just for another view on things and to be able to see things done (can't help that I am a very visual person! ha). I thought it would be good since it is focused on pointing labs. Also thought about George Hickox's "Great Beginnings" for pointers. My dog is only 8 weeks so I am not super worried about screwing anything up at this point. Main focus so far has been housebreaking/crate training and doing 2-3 fun retrieves at a time. I just want to put myself on "information overload" for when it comes to bird intro and building a solid foundation.
