I posted this pictured in the general forum dogs on point thread as well. Spring hasn't arrived though it is 40+ degrees today. Still well more than a foot (probably at least 2 feet in the woods). I went to the game farm yesterday and took this picture. Break through the top layer of snow and you'll go down past your knee easily.

As I was taking the picture I saw the pheasant run down the sorghum. I put the phone away and relocated her. She relocated twice before it came up.

Slistoe, There is actually two dogs there. The one in most the pics the smaller one has a ton of Lobo in him, the other dog is his Daddy and has it as well but its back aways...but Patch is doubled up on it.

That first picture brought a chuckle. I have thousands of pictures from my horse days with the back of a horse head and the two pointy ears.

From the photo, it looks like a Sage Grouse. They're causing quite an uproar in Utah about wanting them to list them as endangered. Probably not a great idea to shoot them :D . But that is a really great photo, I haven't ever seen one in the wild like that.

Fun stuff fellars!! I don't take a lot of training pics - my dogs have a knack for knowing when I'm screwing around, not paying close attention to them like I should be during training...if I want 'em to be any good anyway! Well, take today for instance, I got the bright idea to throw my little Playsport vid cam in my pocket...had dogs and birds scattered all over the place:

Wow. What a place to live and train dogs. I'm very jealous.:)

That makes two of us Sharon! I so miss the way it was here years ago but the scenery wouldn't match what is shown here.

Wasn't looking to go out for a formal training, really just needed to get and get some fresh air and get on the mountain. Once we got past the mountain bikers I let the dog go and came around a bend and found this that I snapped with my phone. Nothing better than spring coming and getting out and getting some exercise with the dogs.

Took the dogs out yesterday to see how much snow was still on the ground. We went to an area where we've had past success finding birds during this time of year. There was still a foot of snow on the grouse on the open ground and more in the woods.
Image
Image

The snow that was on the ground had a crust that made it difficult for walking or running in my dogs' case
Image

Afterwords I asked asked the dogs if they liked the snow cover.

I'm so jealous right now. We got another 2+ inches of snow yesterday. It's above freezing today so hopefully it's melting. At least I saw my first migration of robins this week. We'll head out again this weekend to see how the snow cover is doing.

Well nice day here so put off some stuff that probably needed doing and took out the dogs. Not carrying a camera with Stormy yet, still a lot of puppy in him. Planted a couple birds in my old creek bed for him. He went into it and out the other side, through the brush and fence, across the road and into the jungle on the other side. i got over there and walked the shoulder with him waiting to get close. Little snot has that figured out pretty good! Finally he came out ahead of me a bit, crossed the road and took off down the other side. Stood there and watched a bit then started backing to the house. he finally come's out of the sage and looks down at me and figures that's far enough. here he come running as fast as he could. Went right by me aiming for new grounds. Surprise, I stepped on his check cord and he gave it up! Little snot!! He is learning to walk on a leash pretty well now and he's still eating my pillows!

Oh well did get some shots of Squirt and Bodie today.

Those are great pics of your dogs, Don. Really nice. The quality of most of the pics people are posting is amazing!

Sounds like Stormy is being a little "red devil." Once Stormy gets all that out of his puppy system, you'll probably be amazed at how nice he works for you. Robert is so much fun to hunt with - and to live with. Such a personality.

Love the training pics from everyone.
