GSP pup questions

Post by GSPtripp » Sun Aug 24, 2014 8:15 am

My 11 week old GSP listens to commands when we are in the house but when we go outside into our backyard, it's a completely different dog. What do I do to help correct this? Also, when he's outside in the back he wants to eat everything that's in sight. Is this normal? What can I do to stop this/or should I stop this?

x2

No stones to be eaten. :)

Is this your first sporting breed?

First pointing breed of my own. I've just never had a pup that was that interested in eating every stick, piece of grass, dirt and leaves haha. I tell you what though, he is a real good stone hunting dog :D

No worries 11wks still a baby don't push training hard I mainly try to work on house breaking one at that age. You could get the pup some kind of toy try an see if he will fetch it to you. I had a ball an some other toy that I only use outside so my pups know if I have that there going outside. But may not be gd for you everyone an dog is lil different

Putting things in his mouth is tactile exploration. He's learning about his world using his nose and mouth... Lots of puppies do this, and so do babies.
