Willow Creek teaches trained retrieve not force fetch.. Autumn Breeze Kennels in Isle , Mn.. Make sure trainers are true FF. Not Clicker, treats, and good boy.

I'm retired and out of the retrieveer loop so in a way, I can't help you except by telling you this:

Pick the best RETRIEVER pro you can find in the area. He should be well known and successful in AKC retrieveer trials.

He should be an electric collar trainer and WILL be if he is successful in field trials.

Some trainers won't take dog's with mouth problems. Tell him what the problem is and be honest.

Ask him if he's broken any dog's of this habit. If he says yes, he's lying. You control it, not cure it.

Ask for references of dog's he's sent through this program and CALL THE REFERENCED PEOPLE.

Take him off all birds until he goes into a program, without exception.

Good luck. More dog's have been sent to the pound from this problem and gun shyness than from all other problems combined. The more ingrained the problem becomes, the less chance you have of controlling it.
LIFE WITHOUT BIRD DOGS AND FLY RODS REALLY ISN'T LIFE AT ALL.

GH, seems to be a reluctance to say what breed this is - and if and when it comes out, you may be amused. I would ask the OP, is that reluctance due to this breed's reputation for bad mouth habits preceding it? A pro trainer can successfully take the dog through FF, as GH says, and maybe even break its habit of destroying gamebirds. But you must know by now that even though you say the dog was "successfully force fetched," it wasn't - or you wouldn't have the bad mouth habits that make hash out of birds.

I have a DD. And was told to seek out a professional trainer that has dealt with problem like crunching. I just thought it had to be a ff trainer.

FF Trainer , or 'Retriever Trainer' ? Or the 'best' in ff retriever training ?..Or the best' in fixing any breed with ''crunching'' no matter the 'FF' OR the retrieving accolades ?
Depends on how well embedded your issue is ?...Do you have a video ?
