Flight pen near kennel
I am going to get my first bird dog, a german wirehair, this weekend. I breed and train rabbit dogs but am new to upland hunting. I have an empty chicken coup at my home that I was considering using to raise quail. The only problem is the coup is about 150 ft from my kennels. Will this be a problem for my pointer to be this close to the scent of quail on a daily basis?

I have a smallish back yard and have wondered the same thing. Hasn't been a problem so far... he still has a huge prey drive in the field and I am sure he can smell the birds daily.
