any suggestions/ whoa/dog confused

Post by oldbeek » Sat Oct 15, 2016 9:18 pm

My dog is solid on whoa. We are hunting steep lava slopes and i want to save her feet. when i want to rest/ catch my breath climbing steep lava and She is 20yds ahead and i say whoa, she comes back down to me. I just want her to stop. On the second day of hunting she would only go 20 yards and stop and wait. Coming back to me was like she was concerned with my well being. Once on top of the lava ridges she would hunt normal. But there is nothing normal about hunting chuckars.

I suggest that in addition to "whoa", you teach her "wait".

That is a command we use at doors for a temporary halt. It's useful; in other situations and as a new command, it should not confuse your "whoa"
