Keeping it Versatile

We had ice on our ponds and lakes for 5 months, and snow and ice covering the ground for 2 months, but it is gone now and we are making the most of it. Have been testing our a variety of training to see how well our work from last year remains in place and it is rewarding to see that it is, so we will begin work to build on it from there. Plans are to attend a clinic in a couple of weeks and get some work with other dogs relative to backing. We are doing work with a dummy launcher to build better long range marking skills, and will continue to work our blind retrieve handling skills.

Getting some antler shed hunting in and finding some woodcock while doing it, each providing opportunities to re-enforce prior training and have fun while doing it.

After 5 months of ice we now have open water and were able to run a water blind to see how our training from last summer has held up over the long layoff. Went well.
