A One Hour AKC Trial in the South

Post by Hotpepper » Tue May 13, 2008 6:33 pm

We are working to put together a 1 hour championship to be ran under the rules of AKC. It will be held at the conclusion or after the Middle Tennessee GSPC trial the 1st weekend of December 2008. It will be at Percy Priest F & W area near Nashville.

The particulars are being worked out but it looks like we will get 'er done.

Hope all can come and run and have a great time. :D Give us a post and tell of your interest.

I'm always down at the Mid TN trial in Dec. I'd stick around for a 1 hr championship!

The Kings, Doshe, and occasionaly Barber are at the Mid Tn in Dec. and I'm sure they'd stick around for a 1 hr.

Just about any other weekend and I'd consider it, but that's the same weekend as our club's trial in Lake Wales.
Hope it comes together and you get a good turnout!

Oh man, I would sooo be there, but your trial is always the same week as our nationals  I'd love to see one hour AKC stakes down here.

It will conflict with the Brittany Open All-Age NC at Booneville, so I doubt you will draw many Britts. There are some good ones around there.

Is it to be an All-Age or Gun Dog?

Have you folks considered hosting the AKC GD Ch again?

This will actually be a one hour open limited gun dog stake and will be judged that way. This will start on Monday after the tennessee trial is over.

Needed to add the additional information. No other stakes other than the Open Limited. 8)

Those are pretty nice grounds. I grew up across the lake in Mt. Juliet. It's close to I-24. Lots of nice places to stay close by, nice restaurants, lots of things to do if you want to make a week of it. Nashville is a fun town.

This could become a great yearly event, in my humble opinion.

we have a multitude of good judges to pick from with it being in Tennessee. We can bring guys out of the south up and out of the north down to there. That is kinda what we do at the American Field Championships in Georgia, Ngspa and the AF. I have had good success at getting guys and gals to do it. Might try to get some of the guys from Texas  to come over and judge something.

We will start working on it big time now that we know we can use the area.

Jerry,

There are a few pointer guys that are good judges in the area that you should consider, neutral judges to go with the neutral grounds. Not much going on with their trials that early, so I can think of 4 or 5 that would do it and would keep your travel expenses down.

Jerry,

I have been thinking on that some, I don't believe AKC will allow any championships except the breed chammpionships + the AKC Gun Dog Ch, only those listed in the rule book, at least that is my understanding.

American Field is most relucntant to award new championships, there are some classics that have been running for years.

So unless you guys are moving an American Field championship, I don't see how it can be.

We have approval for a one hour classic ran under the rules of the AKC. It is a done deal.

We are running it through the parent club of the GSPCA and will be limited to GSP only. The weekend trial at Nashville will be open to all akc breeds and then we will start at the conclusion of that trial.

All I Know.

I've heard through the grape vine that the one hour event is not going to happen due to complications getting everything worked out. Any truth to the rumor? I did see where it was approved at the GSPCA borad meeting. I was really looking forward to the event so I'm hoping this is just a rumor.
