Congratulations to Selena and Joe Amatulli

Post by Wagonmaster » Fri Jan 18, 2008 2:29 pm

To quote myself on the Savannah River thread:
My oh my. I believe that is 32 hour wins for Selena. It is going to be a hard record for any of us to beat. Congratulations to Joe.
It has been pointed out to me that I was wrong, that Selena, a/k/a National Amateur Shooting Dog Champion Tulli's Scatback, has 33 hour wins, not 32. 21 Championships and 12 Runner Ups.

She is waaay past Tarkus at 27, or Bluemaxx Spitfire at I think it was 23, or any other hour dog you would care to name, and those were some tremendous dogs.

Selena simply is the winningest GSP Champion ever, and she is amateur handled.

Congratulations to Selena and her handler, Joe Amatulli.

For the most part Joe does his own training with a little help from Daniel Burjan, on occassion.

Boy that is one heck of a record, especially amateur trained and handled.

Celina is a very nice dog and she is now 10 years old and still doing it. To those of us who have had to compete against and with her for the past 5 great years,

JOE< Take a piece of advice and keep running her. She is a blast to watch do it right. Shr baby girl Shelby at age 4 is going to be very good as well, near 4 years of age and has 2 R U and one of them was a national at the allbreed.

Joe does almost all of his training himself, Burjan is not too far away though. He is a good fella and a great competitor on the circuit.

And because she is not in a pro's truck, how many do you think whe would have had she been in a pro operation.

Congratulations Joe and Celina.

Maybe more, maybe less some dogs fit a pro setup better and others really key in on that one person such as Joe.

I had the privilege of meeting Joe (again), and Dan Burjan, and Helmut Schoen, and many others, at Wye Island MD this fall. They have alot of fun together, that is obvious.

Thanks Maurice,

You're right of course. Pete said he did train Selena and another dog (Ravenwood's Starlight Express) for Joe.

I thought Joe's name sounded familiar but couldn't place it.

Not to bring back an old post but...I happened to talk to Dan Burjan at the Pheasant and he stated that someone (I believe it might have been Pete) only had Selena for a very short period of time. Both Dan and Joe did the bulk of the training for Selena.

I just wanted to set the record straight and give credit where credit is due.
