Re: Lone Star Trial
I don't have much as the trial was just getting done with the Bodden and derby yesterday. Talked breifly on the phone last night with the pres. Ray Dohse won the Bodden (45min LGD) with Ike's Eshod Delight (Dee). James Messer took RU, but can't remember which dog other than might have been MSR's Want To Be A Wizard (Ron). I believe Rick Heller took 3rd or 4th with Cadens Ruger Weltmeister (Ruger).
Decatur is a tight course with a lot of places for dogs to get off track. You really need a true GD that will handle to get around there.
Sorry I don't have more, but will update again when I get more news.

Re: Lone Star Trial
Apparenlly they left my dog off the running order, even though he was registered well in advance the event.

Re: Lone Star Trial
Bill,
Unfortunately you are correct and Bandit might have done well on those grounds. For some reason, the trials in Texas are really filling early the past few months. It may be because the quail season is pretty poor.
If your entries are not there by the opening date in many cases you will not get a dog into a trial. The juvenile stakes in particular are loaded and the number of juvenile entries can and does affect in some instances the size of the other stakes. The clubs are placed in somewhat of a quandary, particularly if they give consideration to the dates entries are received. I inquired about Bandit and was told that all the spots that the club could squeeze into the running days were filled when his entry was received. I had the same experience with two trials in December.
I tried to enter a dog in a trial the 1st. of January where the closing date is not until Feb. 2 and was told that I would be added to the standby list.

Re: Lone Star Trial
Thanks for the clarification Ken.
It's more than a little frustrating. The grounds are a nice fit for Bandit's style, and he went out there in January "for the Lone Star". Would have been nice to know that ahead of time and he could have stayed with me until the end of this month. I was under the impression it was all set back in early December. Live and learn I guess. At least he getting a good workout in Texas with Dennis.
