Clubs Now can Hold Three Horseback Trials

Post by Boxa » Sat May 15, 2010 12:33 pm

Pointing Breed Field Trial Clubs Now Allowed to Hold Three Horseback Trials Per Year:
Chapter 3, Section 5. Number of Events Per Year. Local clubs are limited to a maximum of four licensed field trials within a calendar year. No more than three of these may be “horseback” trials. Holding horseback trials is not mandatory. A club may hold up to four “all-walking” trials per calendar year.

Does anyone know when this rule was changed? I was just poking around on the website for the AKC Pointing Breed Championship and happened upon this info... sounds like great news to me!

Has anyone heard of clubs that are planning to implement this right away?

GSP of Ohio is discussing. We have 2 horseback and 1 walking already and we seem to have enough folks willing to help out. Don't think the extra trial will happen until next spring at the earliest as that is when we have only 1 trial at the moment, if it happens at all. Like I said, we are knocking the idea around.

The Lone Star club will be holding three horseback trials next year. I'm not sure if we can work two more in next fall to immediately implement.

I don't know of anyone down here planning on holding 4 trials. I think it's a manpower issue more than anything. I DO expect some clubs to ditch their walking trial and go to 3 horseback trials, though.

I guess it just depends on the club and what they want to do. I don't begrudge anyone the opportunity to host more events for people to enjoy, and I'm always glad to help out!

I think there will also be some clubs that go to 2 walking trials and 2 horseback trials.

Adding an extra horseback trial up this way is prohibitive because our lack of suitable horseback grounds. Both spring and fall seasons are already filled with other local clubs using available grounds.
