Training = Time.
12 ga. shells = $4
GA NSTRA trials for October = $400!

Man, I got all excited about trials, I was looking for a trial to book for every weekend, then looked at the cost. Dang! (&(&@(#$&(@#$

I just stopped by a construction site to get some scrap plywood to build a backing dog silhouette. Sorry Bell, I'm going to make a sign that says "Will work for dog trial fees" out of it. If y'all see me on the I-75 exit ramp, throw me a buck

NSTRA here is $30 a run, how many dogs and weekends are you doing to get to $400? Any weekend they aren't having one you could always look up a UFTA trial in GA or SC

I have one dog and run one weekend a month, both days. UFTA Open events are usually $70 a shot since they are two runs added together. When I do a NSTRA trial, I like the doubles so we get to still run more than once. Haven't seen any triples here.

Lavonia, GA is on I-85 almost to SC if you ever get up that way.

Grant, I would only enter a couple of runs a day at the Washington Trial, you do not have to run all 3 times. Hard to keep a young dog right doing that anyway. B & C fields are the best for a dog starting out, C field is over a mile long and the old timers know how to run it. The others are more manageable for young dogs. Just a little advice, you have to tell them or the`ll run you everywhere.

Does anyone ever run in the TN and AL trials? Also, can you just register for an event in any region, so long as you're registered with NSTRA?

We like to run in Tn as well as Ga. Hal Kirbys in Al is a good one and Heflin Al has good fields.

I have an NSTRA question or two... .

I know you have to accumulate a certain number of points to be eligible to run in a given regions championships, or at least that's how i understand it.

I also understand that as a member you can run in any region you want.

However say i'm running dogs in the W. Tex, OK, and Lone star regions. Do the points I accumulate all count for my home regions championship qualification or on those earned in my home region? Second, if they points are region specific, what if a dog qualifies to run in the championships of two regions, say W. Tex and Ok??? I probably won't run my first NSTRA event until spring and my fall training trip and guiding will cause me to miss them all this time around, but I like to think ahead.... CR

Hey Charlie. I know it gets confusing. The points you get anywhere you run go toward a CH. They only go toward Hi Point dog in your home Region if accunulated there, but will go for a CH anywhere....OK, if you place a dog in a trial ANYWHERE you are eligable to run in the Regional. If you place in another Region you can run in that Regions regional or your home Regional. If you place in your home Region you are REQUIRED to run in the home Regional. Make sense? Then there is a Nat`l point system. Points accumulated ANYWHERE go toward the Nat`l HI Point system and of course a Champioship. I had more points Nationally last yr than in my home Region. Now it gets more complicated..............If you are qualifying to run in the Nat`l Trials the qualifications are different for each one and are listed on their website.

charles,,,it can be simple,,,I ran max in a weekend trial,,took third,,
with a back,,which qualified him for the regional,,,he took third at the regional,,,so he was able to run the dog of the year trial...
so two trials,,,and he was able to run at the dog of the year...
(where we got our butts kicked by a dog named tomokas sadie)
or something similar...
