DOMINION OPEN CHAMPIONSHIP

Mortlach, SK—The Dominion Open Championship, companion titular stake to the Saskatchewan Open Championship, attracted 60 entries. The winner emerged in Broadway’s Silver Belle, nine-year-old pointer female, the “grand dam” of the all-age field trial circuit, owned by R. J. “Bob” Dry, Jr. of St. Simons Island, GA, and handled by Robin Gates. Runner-up was True Survivor, pointer male owned by Bill Hunt of Somerville, TN, and handled by Colvin Davis. Both dogs rendered “prairie” performances with bird work.

Judges were Dale E. Bush of College Station, TX, and Larry Smith of Altoona, IA.

In the Victor Eastmond Open Derby, Mega Touch, owned by Bob and Sarina Craig of Hatchechubbee, AL, and handled by Andy Daugherty, had a great prairie race to secure first. The second and third place dogs — S F Plywood, handled by owner Larry Smith, and Flatout Big John, handled by Rick Furney — were braced together.

Judges for the juvenile fixture were Dale Bush and Colin Kennedy.
