Amateur Walking Derby, Killdeer Plains, March 17th

Post by Greg Jennings » Fri Mar 09, 2007 2:31 pm

The Ohio Brittany Club Trial March 17 at Killdeer Plains needs entries in the Amateur Walking Derby stake. It is open to all AKC pointing breeds of derby age (less than 2 years).

If you have a young pointing dog and want to get a wonderful introduction to field trailing, this would be an incredible opportunity!

The entries close Tues March 13th.

If you even *think* you might be interested, call Bill Tate at 440-645-6078.

As a bonus, if you're a GDF member and enter the stake, I'll buy you lunch.

Do you have a walking puppy stake as well?

Wish I was closer and I'd be there.

It's not how many breaths you have taken but how many times it has been taken away!

Has anyone noticed common sense isn't very common anymore.

Was th walking AA statement made tongue-n-cheek? FYI, I was at a trial once that had a walking AA stake, and if memory serves me correct the judges awarded all 4 placements.

I don't think I would get upset about any club running a stake I or my dog don't care for. I just wouldn't enter it. I am assuming you are thinking an AA dog should be running so big that you can't walk and keep up. But as we have been saying in many posts on here a good dog adjusts to the hunter. And there are many people without a horse that like the walking trials. They are getting more popular which is good if we get more people involved .

I'm just guessing you all would feel better if they called it something besides an all age stake so what should it be billed as? It's either a gun dog stake or an AA but if the entries are mostly AA dogs why not call it just that. Personally I would like to see all gundog stakes require a bird being shot and retrieved but many don't believe in that either.
