The Oregon Shorthair and Oregon Wirehair club are both very active and you can find the info in the NWFTC yahoo group.

I've started running in some of the NBHA trials for fun. I use them to run my dogs with other breeds. In fact I will start running my pups in Puppy after the first of the year.

Maybe I shouldn't use these trials for "fun" but oh well.

Fun trials can be pretty hard to find; they tend to come and go with interest. Clubs are busy running regular trials; finding someone to organize a fun trial (and finding available grounds) can be tough.

I'd suggest finding some AKC hunt tests to run in; they'll give you the ability to experience running under judgement without the pressures of competition.

The GSPC of Idaho and the Idaho Brit Club run one grounds in Mayfield, ID.

Here's the GSPC of Idaho website: http://www.gspcidaho.org/index.htm
Here's the Idaho Brit Club website: http://www.idahobrittany.org/

The GSPC of Oregon runs their hunt tests at Sauvie, Island near Portland and their field trials (or at least some of them) in Madras. Their website is here: http://www.fastdirectory.net/gspco/

The Wirehair Club of Central Oregon runs a few trials; not sure of hunt tests. Their website is here: http://gwpcco.org/

I'd suggest contacting each of those clubs and getting on their mailing lists for both hunt tests and field trials.

As mentioned earlier, joining the Northwest Field Trial Council Yahoo group is another way to finding out what's going on. You can join that Yahoo group at: http://pets.groups.yahoo.com/group/nwftc/

Hope this helps,
Dave

The AKC website events search engine will give you hunt test and field trial dates. there's also a couple NSTRA chapters in your area. Take a look on their website. There's several events coming up in Oregon, Northern Cali, Washington and Idaho during Jan, Feb and Mar to include amateur events. I mostly play in AKC events, but the one NSTRA event I did enter was a lot of fun. Anyone with a decent hunting dog can play that game without embarrassing themselves, winning though is another matter.
