Our club is holding our annual field trial February 21st and 22nd 2009 north of Las Vegas, NV at our field trial grounds in the Mormon Mountains. We are running AWP, OP, AWD, OD, AGD, OGD, and OLGD stakes. We usually have a good turn out but there is always room for more! The grounds are close enough to Mesquite (which is right on the UT border) that you can stay there if your not the camping out type or if you are the stay up late gambling all night type. As soon as I have more info on the judges and a copy of the premium I will post them here.

Hey Max this is Art Cox from Utah. I am sure glad you guys keep this thing going it is always fun. You guys put together a real nice event. I am planning on being there if all goes well. I get back from Mexico on the 13th @ 7:00 p.m. So it will be a long night. What happened to Predidents day weekend? for some reason I thought this trial was always the next weekend.

Hey Art glad to see you on here! I know those who know you might argue but you're a GENIUS!!! Kita is changing the dates with the AKC right now and as soon as I get confirmation I'm gonna edit the origianal post. I do confess though that I was looking forward to you starting the weekend off with an all nighter, my son still tells stories about your theories on GOD and the meaning of life after saturday night last year!lol

Which stakes will be non retrieving if any? I think that is Presidents day weekend.

Only OLGD wil be a retrieving stake all others will not be. Our usual date is Presidents day weekend but AKC screwed up, we are trying to get that straightened out now and soon as we have confirmation I will edit my original post.

Thanks Art for catching my mistake on the dates! We have corrected them and the AKC website should be updated to reflect the change in a day or two. We are also adding an Amatuer Walking Gundog stake. We have never run this stake before but thought it might encourage some of the people from surrounding areas that have great dogs but who are a little intimidated by the horse thing into giving field trials a try. This is only my second year being the event secretary/ line marshal and I would sure appreciate any advice you all might have to give.

Remember what I said about Art being a genius? Well you know they say it takes one to know one and I'm obviously not a genius! I listened to Art and then checked my brand spankin new calender at the union hall and it agreed with Art that President's day weekend was the 21st-23rd so I promptly called up the AKC and chewed them out for not givin us our regular weekend and got it changed from the 14-15 to the 21-22. Then My buddy's 7 year old daughter pointed out to me tonite that that shiny calendar from the Union was wrong and how could all of us be so silly as to put Presidents day on the 23rd when everyone knows it's the 16th! I guess Art and I would both look like idiots on that game show "who's smarter than a fifth grader". LOL Consequently the Las Vegas Bird Dog Club Field Trial is the weekend after Presidents day which is the 21st and 22nd of February cause I'm only calling the Lady at AKC to apologize not to ask for any more changes!

COURSES AND BIRDS
All Stakes will be run on single courses, without bird fields except for OLGD.
OLGD is a retrieving stake with official gunners and a bird field.
A blank will be fired in all stakes except Open Puppy.
Bobwhite Quail and/or Chukar to be released in all stakes.
AKC approved tracking collars will be permitted in all stakes, per AKC guidelines.

PRIZES
Standard AKC ribbons will be awarded to all placed dogs.
