NGSPA Boonville AR

Post by Hotpepper » Wed Feb 25, 2009 10:58 am

Starts tomorrow with the allage, then futurity, amateur ad open shooting dog. Are you going or do you have a dog that is going?

Mine will be in the allage and have several young dogs that I have great interest in in the futurity. I know that several pro's are not going.

Tell what you know and are doing here.

But don't know what time it is to start, so trying to find that out! If anyone knows let me know! Good luck all there.

The place is so hard and not one of my favorites. My young dog has been doing so well and is finding birds. He was good there last year as a futurity and when we pulled the tracker, he was standing way down in a corner where an allage dog should have been standing.

Wish us luck.

Thanks for the info, it is so unfortunate that we had to retire LB last year with a spinal cord injury. Life is so good for him on the recliner and loves to travel in the motor home, on the recliner. At 7 years old, he was much too young to have to hang it up at that young age. He produced 2 litters in 08 and they are both beautiful, class personified.

Looks like J R is the last dog in the allage today, there are 4 grandchildren in the allage stake out of the old Hoosier Buddy dog. That guy just continues to produce and amaze me. Looking forward to having a litter from the froz stuff on him.

If J R does well, you will hear the yell from here.

Glad LB is enjoying teh easy life, well deserved for a fine dog. Good luck with JR.

I have that Buddy grandson that I showed you down in Eureka last fall and he did a bang up job hunting last fall and has really showed a bunch of potential down in camp so far this winter.

Well here is the scoop,

NGSPA Allage Champion NFC Willows on the Spot Handler Hongo/Owner John Lundseth

NGSPA Allage R/U Hoosie4r's Rev it up J R Handler Barber/Owner Jerry Paddock

What is there left to say to that. Rich said he was pretty good, got to digging at the start and when it was all done, 3 covey finds and broke to death and a very nice race.

John is a great friend and I truly wish to congratulate him and Spot.

Jerry, you should know that your handler, Rich Barber, had a really bad back injury and ran you dog anyway. He did a great job and that trophy is huge. They had Jim Kermott do sculptures after the 2007 NC, and he did an absolutely beautiful job. Make sure you have a shelf with plenty of underbearing for that tropy. My congratulations.

The placements were well received this year, Jerr.

John

Have not seen much of you lately but we know how good that dog of your is. Period. Rich was kinda passive about the back tonight and others told me he had a hard time. He really likes my youngin and has great hopes for him all along. He said that within the 1st week he had the dog at 7 months old.

To break on the scene and go runnerup at 32 months is just great for him. Now just need to keep him healthy and keep him at it.

Were you there John? Hope so, I tried to talk myself into coming down there did not make it. J R's daddy was just a mess as well, to bad he got hurt but he is still makin babies and we have a great litter arriving here pretty soon, futurity 2011 that is if OBama lets us run dogs.

Congrats to the Wagonmaster, could not happen to a better fella and dog.

Jerry

Thanks Doug and Chris, talked to Chip and he was jumpin up and down.

Hi Joe. Hope all is good with you. It wasn't his prettiest race here, Keith, Eldon and I thought that was last year when we could not show him at time and no one won. But it was good enough. It was one of those braces where the pace of the whole thing picks up, everyone is in a running walk the whole time, and the whole gallery is watching for the dogs. We were braced with one of Terry Chandlers dogs and he ran a heck of a race too, just no birds, so we had a good finish with both dogs going away hard. Had to turn left at the outhouse to find five more minutes of course for a finish.

They were setting up for a run off, maybe for RU?, until Jerry's dog ran in the last brace and that ended the show. Colder than a you know what here right now. Am. starts this afternoon, I am going to get my chance to run the dog. Am going to need some luck and a fast horse.

Lots of people here this year. Entries are up even with the down economy. Futurity running this a.m.

I love it, the story will eventually all come out. Spot is such a nice dog and deserves all that he gets. The 08 aa was a different story, but I am really happy with the R/U to Spot. At age 2 with J R, he might eventually get in front of the Spot dog.

Keep us posted John as we are all at home. T Bomer went home to work and Kirk is sitting there without a vehicle. Post up what you can.

The futurity was son by Rabidou with Pretty Boy, Goegan was runnerup with Nukearoo and Rabidou was 3rd with one of Goldie's pups.

They started the amateur and John was to run I think this morning. All I know for now Rob.

Man is it hard for me to sit and not to run my dog, crap.

We were on course two braced with Steve Pasas. We lost both dogs right at the entrance to the big field. They kept going North when we turned East. About 20 minutes out. I was describing to David Killam how I had been warned about that place and just messed up, and he politely reminded me that we had won the All Age.

You owe Rich big time Jerry. He was in alot of pain when he handler your dog. He was feeling better when I left.

Does anyone know the running order for tomorrow. I checked the Chronicle earlier and couldn't see it.

John

I have been very impressed with Rich as a trainer and I feel his strength is a handler with what he has trained. He was in a lot of pain from falling on the ramp of the horse trailer I guess the morning he ran J R in the allage. He has a back issue anyway. We will try and make him feel better. Look at the accomplishments for us with him with JR and LB, pretty good. If LB was healthy I would like to lock up with you and Spot and go have some fun.

Are you coming down for Region 5 or the Allbreed? That is real close for me if you want to fly in here and ride over with me, I am not going to stay all week though.

They've probably just done the drawing either before or after dinner down there, so depending on if anyone there has internet axcess or has to wait till someone goes to town to the motel to email Arlene it could be later or morning before results and running order show. She'll get it all up asap though as soon as she hears something. Arlene is a great lady and knows her job well.

At the young age of 7 I would say that Spot is a definate candidate to be one of 2 other 3 times winner. I hope I get to run my dog with the two of them for quite a while yet. Good ones that do what he is doing and has done are few and far between.

Let us know John what shows you will be on so we can tape them for posterity.

He won't be 7 for another month or two Jerr. You would not want my ugly mug to last forever. Neither would I. As for the future, quello che sarà. I am just glad the NGSPA continues to thrive and gives us another excuse to get together, watch em all run, and argue about it afterwards. And I do mean all of em. You know me, I come from a little different perspective maybe than some of the other AA people. I am a hunter first, foremost and always, and I love watching good dogs run to the front and pick those pockets for birds. Those grounds are tough, and seem to be ideally suited to that.

Jerry,

My Brandi, Spot's littermate is technically six years old & won't be 7 until April 19th. John corrected me too when I said his dog was 5 when Spot won two years ago at age 4 years, 10 1/4 months.

As far as repeats go, I don't know. The dog's fine but John's gettin' to be a pretty old litigator and I don't know how many more trials he has left in him. :P

The fact that guys like you, Doug and I come from the hunting background we understand and appreciate the great job when it is done. I love the fact that we can breed really good dogs and pass along the stuff and build on the good stuff of the past to the great stuff of the future. I, like you, want a better bird dog and I do believe that I have been producing same.

We recently bred a girl dog out of the old Willie as the grandpa to my dog and man what a great litter of bird dogs, 15 weeks olds and they are doing it already. I feel that obligation to the grandsons we have to leave them a good bird dog. It is indeed rare to have a dog win 2 (two) NFC titles like Spot has done, he is not finished yet. Have you guys bred him, perhaps you should get on Cadens and breed him to his Sassy dog that is direct out of my stuff. That would be a great litter.

I love the contour and stuff at Boonville, it just is so hard to find birds. That is why Gulledge does not go, birdless dogs. If they would get rid of by applying lime or mowing all of that brown sage it would change so many things. The property manager loves the stuff, in Illinois where I live niether the deer or the quail will use it.

Enough of that, great to have you in the circle. :D 8)
