GSPCA CLASSIC in Illinois?

Post by jbogacki76 » Fri Jan 15, 2010 6:05 pm

Does anyone know information about a 45 min. field trial being held in Ill? I heard it is supposed to be held by the German Shorthair Pointer Club of America?

I think Bob Erbe is going to have a GSPCA event after his weekend trial this spring at the GSPNE at Branched Oaks, Nebraska.

Haven't heard of one in Illinois.

I heard it was going to be 45 mins like the one he had last year. It's on the AKC events calendar.

Send Charlie an e mail, it would have had to be approved by the board.

Chip

That is the one he is talking about, it will be sandwiched between two weekend trials so it should be pretty good. I looks as though I will be judging something there.

Got an old dog that may get to come and run in that one, have to see if we can get him in shape.

Yes Chip that is the event. As Jerry stated the GSPCA Classic is bookend by two AKC weekend trials and should be allot of fun. Two of the events are qualified “Nestlé Purina German Shorthaired Pointer Handler of the Year Awards Program" Field Trials, so there might be some pros and serious Amateurs in attendance. I can't speak to the other club but it sure would be nice to have three majors back to back and I also believe there will be 2 hunt test running on each weekend also. Combine that with the 2 GSPCI Hunt Tests and the Rock River GSP on Easter Weekend (the weekend before) and a person could darn near finish their dog in Hunt and Field in one month at the same grounds. Chip I can't speak to the Classic Judges until they are approve by AKC, however, I believe that if a person wants a true evaluation of their shooting dog the GSPCA Classic will be the place to get it. Chip keep in mind the event has a limited number of dog entries available. I believe $40.00 of each entry goes to the Open winners along with AKC ribbons and Plaques. The Amateur Prizes are pretty impressive too. There should be information on the website www.GSPCI.org

Just wanted to keep everyone informed about the GSPCA Chi-town Classic. Judges and stakes are finalized

Open Limited Gun Dog
John Steger Z3301 and Mark Johnson Z8880
Knox, IN. Winnebago, Il.

Amateur Limited Gun Dog
David Walker 28296 and Jerry Paddock Z1491
Gray, GA. Evansville, IN.

Open Derby
Joseph Vicari Z3488 and Daniel DiMambro 68579
Hampshire, IL. Leroy, MI.

Open Puppy
G F Henry 23849 and Mark Provost 19419
Brighton, CO. Oak Forest, IL.

By the look of some of the entries this is shaping up to be quite a nice Field Trial. As I said before, “I believe that if a person wants a true evaluation of their shooting dog the GSPCA Classic will be the place to get it.” As you can see we have very talented selection of judges who know how to evaluate a dog. The Limited Stakes are 45 minute each and will allow judges to get a good view of your GSP! Broke dog stake entries are limited so get you entries in soon. Hope to meet up with some GDF guys at the trial.

I was thinking about running my pup in the walking stakes in the GSPCI trial after the GSPCA. How old can you run a pup, she is coming up on 12 months.

Also, I cant wait to check out some of the dogs running in the GSPCA. Should make for a good event.

Puppy age is 6 months to 15 months

Derby age is 6 months to 24 months

So your good for both stakes if you want to run in both

You can send in any AKC entry form doesn't have to be a specific one for there. If you have any with other names just white out the other names. I have a bunch that I had printed w/out the top being filled out. Now I have a computer program where I type all the info for the trials in. You can go on AKC website and downloadable forms I believe and find one there. Here's the link: http://www.akc.org/pdfs/AEN999.pdf

The Premium is located on the GSPCI website along with premium for the GSPCI Spring Field Trial which follows right after the Classic. The Entries are coming in and closing date is approaching fast for anyone that is still interested. The Limited payouts are 40% of entries and with 2 excellent judges (John Steger & Mark Johnson) it should be quite a stake. I believe there should be plenty of impressive bird work as both Limited's are 45 mins. stakes. I am looking forward to riding a few braces just to watch the dogs work. Here is link for premiums http://www.gspci.org/static/forms.asp The OLGD starts Monday and ALGD to run Thursday so the amateurs can take a long weekend and stay for the Weekend Trial. There is a hotel nearby (about 2-3 miles) that was recently remolded with reasonable rates and Dog Friendly. If you need info. let me know and I will get the details.
