If I'm not mistaken it should start around the 14th of march with the shooting dog.

The NGPDA is a stand alone championship organization, in other words it is not part of the NGSPA or the GSPCA/AKC structure. You need to contact the NGPDA organizers to get specific information, until they publish their ad in the American Field. Then you can get it from the ad. The ad should come out in Feb. some time. The primary organizer is Pennie Willis.

Yesssss!! Always one of my favorite threads of the year because, even though I try not to, I still always have to ask...why is it called the All Breed? Don't answer, it only encourages me...

First of all, the trial is not formally called the "all breed".

Second, was my answer from last year not sufficient?

I would think you'd be more interested in why the Continental Championship is called such when it is, I believe, the only major AF championship where Continental Breeds are banned from participating.

Yes, yes, it was, and so was the answer from the year before that...and the year before that. Just can't help but ask pretty much solely to amuse myself!!

I didn't know the Continental had any breed restrictions. The premium on the Conti FTC website doesn't mention any restrictions...??

Jason

Straight up I 24 from Nashville to I 57, which is north of Paducah, then to Benton Illinois and west to grounds. A slight jog at Duquoin Ill and then to grounds. Hope that will help you, gps might take you around the world. That is the best way to get there from the south.

I just gp west from home to Benton and then to the grounds.

Jerry

Hope you get to come.

I believe the Continental is closed to all but pointers and setters that have placed in an Open All-Age or Open Derby, but it was formed well before there were any continental breeds running in trails in the US, and was so named to include all bird dogs (of that time) of Continental North America (to include Mexico and Canada) to put it ahead (in their minds) of the National Championship and the US Open. Having nothing to do with Continental Europe or those breeds.

But I have a question, why are Brittanys, clearly a continental breed, excluded?

Here is a question.....This year the premium says that no dog will be drawn without completed entries and check. I have yet to find an entry form any place, and I have never seen and "NGPDA entry form". Any suggestions?

Bill

Fill out some kind of akc form and sign it, add a check and send it to Pennie. Believe me, they will take it.

I know they take the entries so they can make a bood to sell ads for it. I am sure the drawing will take place just like at Booneville.

Not a part of it any longer but it is still a great championship.

Bill,

It's the same as any AF trial. Just a piece of paper with the dog's name, FDSB #, owner name and address, handler name, stake to be run in and the check. You can use the AKC form or just a piece of paper with the info on it.

Dave

Neil, are you asking why the Brittany is excluded from the National German Pointing Dog Association?

And before you ask, the Vizsla is a German breed as well as a Hungarian breed. And for many years this trial had that pesky retrieving requirement.

Gotta go - more on the history of the all breed later.

Dave

(btw, I'd have no problem seeing Brits at this trial)

That is the first I heard the Vizsla is a German breed, how is that?

Since German occupied France a couple of times in the 20th century, seems like France might be considered part of Germany.

Truth is, were it open to Britts, I doubt many would attend,

Still on the osd don't know what brace. Start the aa tomorrow. Asd starts Thursday. It's a cold 50 degrees, cloudy, there have been a few scratches. Running order is not posted. We just got here late last evening so I don't know too much yet will post more as I know.

Jo you running in the ASD? If so - Good Luck!

Really wanted to get there this year. With the snow I have not been able to get the girls in shape for the hour. Got the ATV stuck twice last week. :x

Had to call Penni on Friday and tell her not to draw us.

Was counting on cashing in that scouting that you owe me, My dogs aren't in the best of shape either but I'm going to make a go of it anyway, just have'n some fun. They haven't drawn for it yet. May do that tonight, Peter wasn't sure. They finished the osd but haven't heard the placements.

Richardson's dogs took first and third in the derby not sure of the dogs names. Jagermeisters dollop of daisy took runner up owned by me & my wife, handled by me. I'd like to thank Quintin for stepping in to scout at the last minute for me & Tank aka "Duke". And thank Dennis Brath for scouting Daisy, she can be a hand full at times. Also thanks to Peter Coppen for scouting jäger and Rich Barber for helping locate him after losing him at 50 minutes. I'm proud of all three dogs :D Joe

The biggest Congrats out to Keith & our Breaker girl (I bred and whelped Breakers litter and she was mine and Keith's pic of the litter) then the Richardson's bought her from us @ Booneville. It is awesome to see them get this National. Jody congrats to you as well and also Keith/Dennis and yourself for your derby placements. Thanks for sharing the pictures with us and letting us know whats been happening.
