Here are the winners for the 2010 Rocky Mountain Championship

Amateur Shooting Dog
Champion - FC Caden's Bandit - Handled by Keith Richardson
Runner Up - I'm Maddie - Handled by Zane Mowers

All Age
Champion - Slick's Cuttin Wild - Handled by Keith Bryant/Owned by Michael Patrick
Runner Up - FC Hoss - Handled by Jim West/Owned by Keith Bryant

Open Shooting Dog
Champion - "Mya" - Handled by Dennis Brath/Owned by Keith Richardson
Runner Up - "Ella" - Handled by Dennis Brath/Owned by Keith Richardson
(I think "Ella" was runner up but not 100% sure)

Just as a side note, I'm Maddie and Slick's Cuttin Wild are 23 month old littermates that did an outstanding job for two youngsters.

Congrats to all the winners, handlers, and owners. A special thanks to all those who supported the Rocky Mountain Championship and to all those behind the scenes that made it happen.

Congrats to all the placers.

Lennie, that was one heck of a litter! Two AF Champions, and three that are almost AKC field champions while still derby age!

I heard that the Championship was not American Field approved because they did not get their ad in and Bernie did not approve the trial. Anyone else hear the same thing?

That's what I heard too. They still ran it to get Purina handlers points.

Interesting. If this is true, Don't they inform the entrants that this is not an AF event. How can they charge AF Championship entry fee's if it is not?

This was NGSPA sanctioned only. All participants were notified prior to drawing and the entry fees were much less than a normal championship.

What exactly occurs to change status of an event into a non-AF event? Is it a paperwork requirement issue, or something a club decides to change?

The minimum requirements for Bernie (he owns American Field) to recognize the trial - The organization putting on the trial must submit an ad to American Field 30 days before the event start date. To be an NGSPA recognized trial it must be submitted to the NGSPA first, approved by trusties and than the ad can be sent to American Field so it can be published. NGSPA requires a full page ad for an event.

Although the dollars are very important, I am sure. It is also a case of letting all know there is to be a championship trial so they may enter.

I really don't think 30 days is all that tight of a time line,

Well Bill, congrats to you, Dennis, and Bandit on his win, it takes nothing away from the performance of the dog, unfortunately someone dropped the ball, and did not get the ad in on time with the AF, so his CH. win will not be on the AF record. Congrats to all none the less.

Definitely takes nothing away from the dogs and congrats all around to all the winners.

However, this does show the importance of crossing all the T's and dotting all the I's when putting on a Championship. A lot of time and effort goes into getting these dogs prepared for these Championships. We need to do all we can for them so all that work gets recognized.

UPDATE!!- Well......more bad news. First we send our dogs out West for a AF Championship that is not sanctioned as one because the event organizers are not very organized....now comes word that the points have been stripped for the NGSPA Dog of the Year, and assume this includes the Purina Points as well. Apparently the points for a non-championship were never approved by the board and therfore should not have been advertised as such. The NGSPA board met in June and made their decision. This is unbelievable and a total misrepresentation. I sent my dog out to an AF Championship in April, and in June It ends up being a "fun trial". Quite a costly proposition !!

That's Crap Bill......well I sure as heck hope everyone had "FUN" at your expense, it's hard enough to get dogs for the hour let alone have this happen.

This still floors me.......

I will tell you this Bill. If I were in your shoes I would never run my dog in any future events held by that club. Because someone didn't do their job, you suffer in the end.
