Gateway GSP Club WFT - 3/19 & 20, 2011

After sifting through all of the entries from the February date, we have had some cancel and there is space available for those of you still interested.

The Gateway German Shorthaired Pointer Club will be hosting a Walking Field Trial on February 5th & 6th, 2011, to be held at Whetstone Creek Conservation Area in Williamsburg, MO. Entries will be accepted until January 30th, 2011 and will be limited to the number of dogs that can be run in daylight hours.

Thanks for all the entries and interest - We had to limit this trial to just over 60 dogs due to daylight hours available to run. We will draw tomorrow, from 65 entries that were submitted for this trial.

I set the courses today out at Whetstone, and there were just a couple of inches of snow this morning and the sun and temps today should help with that. Hopefully the weather will cooperate over the next few days and make for a really nice trial for all involved.

For those of you who entered, We'll see you next weekend. For those who weren't entered in time, hope to see you next time!

The severe weather system that passed through our area dropped over 15 inches of ice and drifting snow on the Whetstone Creek Conservation Area. We are anticipating frigid temperatures in the single digits, and high winds following this storm system providing for dangerous road conditions not to mention the conditions for the horses, judges and dogs. As a result, we have elected to cancel the field trial.

Fortunately, we are planning to reschedule. Gateway GSP Club is also drawn for use of the Whetstone Creek Conservation Area on the weekend of March 19th & 20th, 2011. I know there may be conflicts for some of you, but we would love to see as many of you attend as possible.

As soon as I have an updated premium, I will plan to send it out.

Where does the 3/19 & 20 fall in? That is the title of the post. Will there be a trial at Pickneyville before Region 5 as in years past? I have not seen anything posted on AKC, and was wondering about this. Thanks,

This thread is about the Gateway club walking trial, not the horseback trial you're talking about.

I've not yet seen anything else regarding that trial either.

@ Andy - We have one judges change that will be made for the OLGD and then we'll get the premium right out to you.

Re: the horseback trial - I do think plans are still in the making to have our horseback trial this spring, I just have not heard final word yet. It may be done in combination with the Gateway Viszla Club, but I got that from a member of the GVC not from the GGSPC. Keep an eye out for a trial from either club if you're interested in attending a weekend trial surrounding Reg 5.

We drew 59 dogs for this trial last night and are looking forward to some warm, dry days between now and the trial. The forecast is for sunny weather on Saturday and Sunday. Should make for a good trial!
