NATIONAL AMATEUR WALKING SHOOTING DOG CHAMPIONSHIP
Lacy Township, NJ—The National Amateur Walking Shooting Dog Championship drew 44 entries for the April 7 event at Greenwood Wildlife Management Area in southern New Jersey. Judges for the stake were two well known and highly experienced field trialers, Lee Eiklor of Barton, NY, and Bill Pellechia of Youngsville, NC.
Second To None, male pointer owned and handled by Nabil Elrassamni of Providence, RI, was named champion with three finds. His race was strong, consistent and always to the front. Back Country Bud, male pointer owned and handled by Chris Catanazarite of Scenery Hill, PA, was named Runner-up for the second time in three years. He had four finds and an unproductive, with a strong forward race.

EGYPTIAN OPEN SHOOTING DOG CHAMPIONSHIP
Whittington, IL—There were 40 entries in the Egyptian Open Shooting Dog Championship. Topping the field was Joy Shadow, pointer female owned by Ron Ward of Centralia, IL, and handled by Jeff Hoffman. Runner-up was Elhew Swami, pointer male owned by Rob Butler of LaGrange, KY, Stan Howton of Troy, MO, and Bryce Flaming of Benton, KS, and handled by Shawn Kinkelaar.
Judging the Championship were Ned Myers of Mt. Vernon, IA, and Mark Livingston of Central City, IA.

INDIANA OPEN SHOOTING DOG CHAMPIONSHIP
Berea, KY—Elhew Swami bested 74 entrants at the Indiana Shooting Dog Championship with a superb ground race and five beautiful finds. Shawn Kinkelaar handled the pointer female to her 13th championship title. Calico’s Smart Money, with George Tracy handling, took a close second with three finds, a back and a forward far-reaching ground race. This smooth gaited pointer is owned by Allen Linder of Livingston, TN.
Judges Bill Perry of Lynn Haven, FL, and Larry Curry of Montgomery, AL, made an unparalleled judging team.

MISSOURI STATE TRIALS
Grovespring, MO—The Missouri Open Championship attracted 34 entries. Topping the field was White Powder Pete, pointer male owned by Bert Wimmer of Rockville, IN, and handled by Colvin Davis. Runner-up was Cypress Gunpowder, pointer male owned by Dr. Larry Mitchell of Franklin, TN, and David Nutt of Ridgeland, MS, and handled by Andy Daugherty. Judging the Championship were Gary Cowell of Lancaster, MO, and Larry Garner of Arcadia, OK.
In the Open All-Age Stake (32 entries), Lester’s Absolute, pointer male owned by Rick Stallings of Montgomery, AL, and handled by Colvin Davis, earned first. Second was Cypress Gunpowder, owned by Dr. Larry Mitchell and David Nutt and handled by Andy Daugherty. White Powder Pete, owned by Bert Wimmer and handled by Colvin Davis, was third.
The Open Derby had 10 entries. First was Sagemoor Kate, pointer female owned by Dr. Glen Sanders and handled by Colvin Davis. The second place dog was Mt. Nebo’s Bubba, pointer male owned by Jake Kirkland and handled by Andy Daugherty. House’s Magic Rain, pointer male owned by Dr. Bob Cook and handled by Randy Anderson, placed third.
Jim Crouse of Dixon, KY, and Tom Cernich of Olathe, KS, judged the All-Age and Derby Stakes.

NATIONAL CHUKAR CHAMPIONSHIPS
Sunnyside, WA—The National Chukar Shooting Dog Championship was won by Kelly’s Rebel Maggie, owned and handled by Sean Kelly of Auburn, CA. Runner-up was Wells Fargo Tater, owned and handled by Paul Wells of Wilton, CA. The trial was run on the Rick Anderson ranch with Pat Lockhart and Butch Nelson of Bozeman, MT, judging.
The National Chukar All-Age Championship was won by Drama Queen, owned and handled by Torben Hansen of Reno, NV. Runner-up was Rivertons Blackeyed Pea, owned by Matt Coverdale of Blackfoot, ID, and handled by Rich Robertson. The judges were Sean Kelly and "bleep" Preston, both from Alberta, Canada.

NGPDA CHAMPIONSHIPS
Pinckneyville, IL—The NGPDA Championships were held at Pyramid State Park, Denmark Mine Area, in Pinckneyville, IL. The 39th National Shooting Dog Championship commenced March 19, a bright sunny day. Judges were Richard Byrd and Jared Warren from Georgia. The winner was G K’S He’s a Trip, owned by Greg Keiser and handled by Bryan Long. Runner-up was What’s the Point Jake, owned and handled by Peter Coppens.
The 52nd National Championship started bright and early March 23. Richard Byrd and Jared Warren had so much fun judging the Shooting Dog, they also judged the National Championship. The winner was Strike’s Flash of Gold, owned by Douglas Stocks and handled by Eldon Hongo. The runner-up was Kyle’s Hightailing Luke, owned by Dr. Robert Reynolds and handled by Chris Goegan.
The 28th National Amateur Shooting Dog Championship was judged by Ken Ruff and Mark Johnson, both from Illinois. The winner was What’s the Point Jake, owned and handled by Peter Coppens. Runner-up was Wildfire’s Southern Express, owned by Frank and Joe Vicari and handled by Joe Vicari.
The National Derby Classic was judged by Terry Trzcinski and Ken Ruff. The winner was P J Wildfire’s Lucky, owned by Angela and Joe Vicari and handled by Joe Vicari. Second went to a Vizsla, Sagnaw Diamond Dan, owned and handled by Mark Johnson. Trapper Cactus Rambler, owned by Mark Masheck and handled by John Steger, was third.
NGPDA President Dennis Spada saw to it that everything ran smoothly and a good time was had by all.

AMERICAN DERBY INVITATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP
Broughton, IL—Lester’s Snowatach continued his wining ways by capturing thre 2006 running of the American Derby Invitational Championship at Outland ranch near Broughton, in Southern Illinois. Snowatch is owned and handled by Gary Lester of Gracey, KY. Runner-up was Prairieland Pride, owned by Dr. Robert G. Cook of Kenosha, WI, and handled by Randy Anderson.
Called back for the finals, in addition to the two winners, were Survivor’s Little Bill, owned by Blake Kukar of Collierville, TN, and handled by Bill Hunt, and Windyhill True Grit, owned and handled by Jake Waddell of Brownsville, TN.
Judges were Garland Priddy of Terry, MS, and and Larry Huffman of Michigan City, MS.

JAYHAWK OPEN SHOOTING DOG CHAMPIONSHIP
Longton, KS—Beginning on the first day of spring, the Jayhawk participants endured cold, wind, rain and snow, then finally sunshine, to see Drs. Thomas and Robin Morgan’s Elhew Hannabell “add another notch” by winning the Championship, Shawn Kinkelaar as handler. A first-timer in the winners’ circle, Roller’s Ozarks Bill was awarded runner-up honors, with Jerry Hailey handling for owner J. R. Carr of Springfield, MO.
The stake was judged by Jake Kirkland of Kansas and Rosco Staton of Missouri, as advertised, and drew a field of 44.
The companion Derby was won by Quail Alley Rose, handled by Frank Ford for owner Ken Raney. Second was Blackhawk Wiley, owned and handled by Dean Lord, and third was Percolator, handled by Shawn Kinkelaar for owner Jeff Frazier.

KENTUCKY OPEN ALL-AGE CHAMPIONSHIP
Berea, KY—The Kentucky Open All-Age Championship was completed March 24 at Central Kentucky Wildlife Management Area, Kingston, KY. There were 32 entries.
The winner was King Cotton, pointer male owned by Jimmy Honea of Oakfield, GA, handled by Robin Gates. Runner-up was Rester’s Perfect Storm pointer male owend by Jack Harang of Metairie, LA, handled by Robin Gates.
Joe Bush took first and second in the Open Derby with Beau’s War Honor, pointer male, and Caddo’s Free Boy, pointer owned by Bob Napier of Winchester, KY. Third was Persuasion, pointer male owned by Matt Pendergest of Lexington, KY.
Judges Howard Brooks of Chattanooga, TN, and Harry Gillmore of Murphysboro, IL presided.
