Trial dates are April 3rd - conclusion. We realize this is the week of Easter so we will do our best to get you home for the weekend! I am the chairman so feel free to email or call your entries to me (as well as any questions). Please include the dog's registered name, owner name, handler name and your phone number.

We look forward to this trial and with the help of our sponsors - Purina, Tri-Tronics, Christie Enterprises and Gun Dog Supply feel it will be a great success! The tentative one hour course is highlighted below. Entire course to the south is fenced off the road.

Ran at allot of shorthair trials on these grounds, that interstate is intimidating when your running dogs right along it. They have a pretty good fence there to keep the dogs inside but I remember a few years ago a couple wild derbies got loose out there and we had to run them down. Haven't been up their for a few years.

Tall good fence in place. The state runs a TON of trials there and the road is further than it looks. It is right off the breakaway so usually the dogs are screaming to the front.

we ride the fence before the four lakes events to find and repair any holes in the fence. The access road, scares me more than than the interstate, but I have not heard of any dogs having issues yet.
But like anywhere we run,it could happen.

Even at Ames. ;) We usually have club members ahead at the access road parking lot to help.

NBHA is for walking Shooting Dogs.
Never try to teach a pig to sing. It wastes your time and annoys the pig.

Yes as Cajun stated. This is a walking trial with horseback scouting allowed. No ATVs on state grounds (only a dog wagon), so this is a great walking venue! If you do not have a horse for your scout, do not let that deter you. There should be individuals to lend a hand.

Here are our tentative plans...SD will run Tuesday-Thursday depending on entries then we will run the Derby on Friday. Again depending on entries, we "may" get a brace or two of Derbies started on Thursday. Really will not know until Sunday. But we would like to be completely done by Friday night so everyone can be home for the Easter Holiday. Plan on Friday...

How were the grounds?

grounds are dry,and already getting green. They burned the area they slashed last year, but it was already greening up.I expect pine island to be thicker than normal this year.
