This may sound like a dumb question, but I may send Dalin to MT. for Summer Camp and it was mentioned about possibly running him in a Derby in this Trial. He is AKC Reg., Is that acceptable or will I have to cross register him??

Under the AF rules, an unregistered dog can run, but has to be AF registered to have a win recorded. But in addition to that, I believe the NGSPA requires AF registration as a condition of entry in an NGSPA stake. Most of the NGSPA premiums state that the dog must be AF registered to be entered. It is cheap to cross-register, like $35. I think you can print out the registration form from the www.americanfield.com website.
The tentative date for the sharptail is Sept. 2. It is planned to run Labor Day Weekend. Being an NGSPA Ch., it will probably run to Thur. or Fri. if it is started on a Sat. Everybody needs to pack up camp and get to the Reg. 17, which is right after the Sharptail.
Last year the derby was the last stake to run, but they do not always run things in the same order from year to year.
The Sharptail is at the Castlebury Ranch, outside of Ekalaka MT.
PS Bruce, I would get the registration going now, it takes about 30 days to issue, and Sept. is coming up faster than we would like to think.

Thanx Kindly John. I was thinking I would need to cross register, but wasn't sure. I'll have to move fast, as it appears that I'll have to have the Dam Owners Signature(in ink) on the form, which means I'll have to send it out to them as well. That will cost me a week alone with the US Mail! It also appears to cost an extra $15.00 to cross register the AKC animals.... Am I reading that correct?? So it would be $15. to register and $15. for an AKC GSP for a Total of $30.00?

i took a quick look at the form on the website, and that looks to me like the litter registration form. i would give the AF a quick call and ask for the requirements to register based on an AKC registration. i don't think you need the dam's owners signature for that, because it was already done with the AKC reg. I think there is a different form for cross-registration. i think the ph. number is on the website.
PS I looked again. I see it is not the litter reg. form, but I still don't think the dam's owner needs to sign on a cross-reg. I would call the AF, they try to be helpful.

Thanx again John. I gave them a call and all I need to do is use the App for Reg, but I don't have to fill out the Sire, Dam or Cert. for Owner of Dam info. I just send them a copy of my Ped and pay the $30.00. Now I have to figure out how to shorten his AKC name to the 4 word max.
You would think they would want the same name across all the Registries!
