The NGSPA Great Plains Championship was held this last week in Elk City Ks on the Westfall ranch. The championship was originally sched to be on the Westfall ranch in Browning Mo but due to very wet conditions of the grounds it was moved to Elk City. After a long week of riding and watching dogs I hope to have results and pictures posted later with all the results. What I can tell you was if you missed it, you missed some of the best grounds in the country to run and watch dogs, big and wide open and dogs really had to get after it for the judges. Also a big thanks to Sara and Tim Heiner for hosting this championship after having to have to move the site basically in the last few days. A big thanks to Sara for all the great three course meals thru out the whole week, and as one pro mentioned later on, this food was better than any national. Thanks to the Killiams for fiesta night also and to all who attended. Robbi if you have those updated pictures could you post them with the results. Also want to thank Bill Westfall and all the ranch gang for helping out most of the week and not letting anyone get lost on all the acres of ground as it was easy to do on the 3 one hr courses. If you missed it this year I strongly suggest you make it next year to run on these grounds or just as important, enjoy all the 3 course meals by Sara as it was worth the trip.

By the way, my dog didn't fair real well as he was too busy chasing coyotes instead of pointing birds as their were plenty of cyotes to chase, lets just say his brain at the time was the size of a microscopic piece of gnat crap. I did have the honor of watching and judging some great shooting dogs thou, thanks to Pros, Hongo, Gulledge, Brath, Armburst and Heiner for bringing their strings of dogs as well as the amatures who showed and ran dogs.

Tim and Sara Heiner should be congratulated for putting on a great Championship. Sara is a fantastic cook and put on meals anybody would have been proud of.
Tim did a great job of putting this championship together. With the help of Bill Westfall and his friend Chris who helped in developing the course and showing us his ranch. The grounds were great and really put the dogs to the test. I really enjoyed myself and was lucky enough that my dog, Trey won the All Age against some tough competion.
