Nebraska Open Shooting Dog Championship

Post by ElhewPointer » Wed Jul 25, 2012 4:24 am

I am proud to announce the Sandhills Field Trial Club will be hosting the first Nebraska Open Shooting Dog Championship. This new Championship will be the seccessor to the Dakota-Saskatchewan Shooting Dog Championship that hasn't been run in a few years. This will be a wild bird trial in the beautiful rolling sandhills of Nebraska. The exact date has not been set, but will be by the end of this week. The championship will be held in early to mid Sept. We are very excited for this and there will be more information on the way. We would love to see you all make it.

Congratulations on bringing back this type of championship. Wild bird Championships are the ultimate in field trialing.

Dennis and Bonnie are outstanding judges, Vegas is putting on an class trial on wild birds in the Nebraska Sandhills. This should be a great one for everyone to attend.

AF is dominated by pointers and setters, however not limited to them. DGFavor who posts somewhat regularly, trials his shorthairs in AF.

With the recent GSP Chicken being cancelled are there any Shorthair people considering going to this new Championship?
I am thinking about bringing my two Derby dogs and would like some company!

Looks like it would be an awesome one to go to and I'd likely be just as pleased donating my money and takin' a beatin' there as anywhere!! Unfortunately my parents chose to get married exactly 50 years ago the first week of September so we've got a shindig all planned for them at that time...and no matter how I tried, the plans don't seem to include my dogs or horses!!

Good luck with the trial! My kinda deal and hope to see it on the calendar each year!

Just got back from the grounds. Saw plenty of birds. There will not be a horse wrangler at the trial, but often times people are quite willing to let you borrow a horse to run a dog. It is open to all pointing breeds that can be registered with the AF. To be able to run in the Championship, a dog must have an AF placement, either derby or broke dog, to run. The NGSPA trials are AF trials so that would count towards a placement to be able to run in the trial.

It has been decided today that the championship has been canceled due to conditions of grounds and fear of fire. Thanks for all that were interested in this trial.

This has been an ugly year. Two NGSPA championships, now NE Open Shooting Dog Championship have been cancelled because of fire danger.

I was afraid of that, don't want to burn up the grounds, and the neighbors.
