SPBC Field Trial- H Cooper Black, Cheraw, SC

Post by cmc274 » Mon Oct 08, 2012 2:45 pm

Sandhills Pointing Breeds Club will be hosting a field trial at H Cooper Black in Cheraw, SC on December 14, 15 and 16. H Cooper Black is home to premier AF trials, which this past year included the South Carolina Shooting Dog Championship, US Complete National Championship, NBHA National Open Championship, and Region 3 Shooting Dog Championship. The grounds are a mixture of longleaf pine forests and open fields. The main loop was burned this past spring and is in great shape. We look forward to putting on a great trial and hope you will consider joining us.

Horseback Stakes: OAA, OGD, ALGD, OD
Walking Stakes: AGD, AWD, AWP

Anyone that was not able to join us for this trial that can make it to the grounds within a few hours should strongly consider joining us next time. We have newly started clubs in NC and SC that both have intentions of holding more trials at these grounds in the future. We were able to run 2 courses 1 walking and 1 hb. The 7 or 8,000 acres provided us an excellent venue to run dogs. Not to mention all of the great amenities to really make a great trial. Camping areas with electric and water hook ups. Corrals located directly behind your camping area to keep horses in. There were also corrals and barn stalls available for those not staying on the grounds. A great clubhouse that enabled the participants a place to warm up/dry off, visit with new and old friends, and enjoy a meal.

We were able to set up a great walking course with some rolling hills but nothing too bad. Great open areas with terrific objectives and edges where a dog could really show their smarts.

We had an hour long hb course at our disposal that worked great for running an out and back stake for the AA and GD stakes. This course was a mix of piney woods with lots of great cover. There were no easy birds to be found and dogs had to really dig in and work for their finds.

Sorry we only had a few pictures. The photographer got busy helping with so many other task, and then the rain all day sunday put a damper on the number of pictures taken. Overall great grounds, people, and food. Chris and Alyssa did a great job again running the trial with so many things going on at brand new grounds and things went as good as anyone could have asked for.
