NGSPA Quail Championship

Post by hi-tailyn » Tue Jan 21, 2014 7:31 pm

The Quail will be a Dual reg. trial with the Lone Star GSP Club and each of the Championships will also qualify as a AKC Grand Stake. This is a new title from AKC where the stakes are 1 hour in length and each of the stakes will also be a Open Grand, Amateur Grand and All Age Grand. The derby will not be dual reg.

My dog will be either running late today or very early tomorrow as shes in brace 7. Were heading down tomorrow to run in the AMT later and get out of this Iowa blizzard, Im tired of winter already.

They got thru 7 braces yesterday. Temps taking a nose dive down there today as highs are only going to be in the 30s. Planned on leaving today but with windchill temps here in eastern Iowa at 35 below into tomorrow its not worth the risk hauling dogs and horses and taking a chance.

I heard today they are going to try to get through eight braces. But, it has gotten very cold and windy. Dogs were having trouble getting around. Hopefully will know more later.

I understand Indy and Angelina had runs well regarded. I had one lost at 40 and one with a very good run, but no birds. I'm told that several dogs went bird less today. Rub of the green as they say in golf, we would like them all to run in the same conditions, but it's highly unlikely this time of year.

How cold was it? It would have to be pretty cold to prevent a GSP from hunting for an hour!

I believe he meant cold for Ardmore Okl as it was in the 20s yesterday with high winds but back up close to 70s by the weekend. I don't think the cold had anything to do with dogs not getting around for the hr but the high winds were keeping the dogs from hearing the handlers and some got sideways and backwards and were picked up by the handlers knowing that in a championship that wasn't going to get in the winners circle.

Nice going guys, all well deserved wins . Moon Pie takes second in both OSD and ASD, now that is consistency. Need to watch this dog in the future.

Messer should know his own dogs but unless Franko has another Dixie Chris won the NGSPA Nats with her a few yrs ago.(2010)
I also looked up Chrystal on a running order at some trial a few minutes ago & it said Sonny.

Tonelli's Little Stinker = Dixie owned by H Franko

Messer must have been having a senior moment. I decided to look up Crystal's pedigree after this post and you are right and Sonny is the sire with Chloe is the dam.
