GEORGIA CHAMPIONSHIPS
Waynesboro, GA— The Georgia Open Derby Championship has drawn a field of 32 contenders, and the Georgia Open All-Age Championship has an entry of 54 for the 2007 renewal at Waynesboro, GA. Judges for the juvenile fixture are Luke Eisenhart of Glenville, PA, and Shawn Kinkelaar of Effingham, IL. For the all-age, John Ray Kimbrell of fort Mill, SC, and J. C. Turner of Casar, NC, will preside.

FITCH FARMS-GALENA PLANTATION TRIALS
Holly Springs, MS—The pre-holiday running of the Fitch Farms-Galena Plantation trials — an Open All-Age and Open Derby — were held at Holly Springs, MS, the All-Age attracting a fine field of 55 dogs, and 19 for the juvenile stake.
Judges for the trials were Jim Crouse of Dixon, KY, John Rex Gates of Boliver, TN, and Gary Jones of Clarksville, TN. They named Lester’s Absolute the winner of the All-Age. The white and liver pointer male is owned by Rick Stallings of Montgomery, AL, and was handled by Colvin Davis. Whippoorwill Firebox continued her wining ways by securing second for Earl Connolly of Memphis and handler Larry Huffman. Third was Cherokee Gunfire, pointer male, owned by Gary and Sally Lockee of LaGrange, TN, and handled by Mike Matney.
In the Derby, Hytest Palladin, setter male, prevailed. He is owned by Jack Elliott of Knoxville, TN, and was handled by Ray Warren. Second was Ace’s Wild Agin, pointer male owned by Albert Necaise of Gulfport, MS, and Korry Rinehart of Rienzi, MS, and handled by Davis. Third was Whippoorwill Hot Dame, Preston Trimble’s consistent Derby winner, handled by Allen Vincent.

TOOTSIE HURDLE OPEN ALL-AGE
Blue Mountain, MS—Thirty-three pointers and one setter competed over the spacious grounds of the heck Creek Wildlife Management Area near Blue Mountain, MS. Sir Lancelot, handled by veteran Hoyle Eaton who owns the dog with Gil Flautt, Richard Tollison and Danny White, was named the winner. Lancelot was credited with one find and a searching, determined race. Second place was awarded to Mississippi Hotrod, handled by Mike Johnson for owners Ed and Dee D. Stevens of Decatur, OH. Hotrod was also credited with one find and a driving race. Third placement went to Whippoorwill Wizard, pointer male owned by Dr. Jack D. Huffman of Michigan City, MS, and handled by Larry Huffman. Wizard was placed on race.
Judges were Steve Hurdle of Catherine, AL, and William Smith of Moscow, TN.
