cover dog trials

can other breeds than just english setters or pointers run in cover dog trials or is the only requirement that the dog be registered with the FDSB

I have looked at the website and all of the winners seem to be es or ep

I believe unless it is a Championship any dog can run regardless if they are FDSB registered or not, placements will not be recognized or recorder unless FDSB registered.

Championships usually have some sort of a qualifying standard such as a win certificate from another trial.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

That would be it. To enter a trial you need to show up with a dog. To enter a championship you need a win certificate. Win certificates will not be issued to dogs without an FDSB # - which is easy to get if you are registered AKC. Any breed of dog can enter. The ES and EP fellows are not against taking anyones money

there is some other breed in cover dog trials (red setters and britts),but cover dog is about english setters and pointers and they are reg. by fdsb. if you are interested about cover dog you should see some trials and then deside are you going too run same other breeds in cover dog against all pros with setters and pointers.

The Brits run a Championship Coverdog trial I believe. I know several brit owners run in the AF series too. Thats an area where the other breeds probably have their best shot at winning.
