TT or sportdog?
TT or sportdog?
looking to buy a new upland collar for my dog. if you were in the market of buying a new e collar which would it be the TT g3 upland or the SD 1875 and why ?
thanks
thanks
Re: TT or sportdog?
I have had the 1825 for 3 months now, so far no problems. I really did want to buy Tritronics but when it came down to the features for the $$$ I went with sportdog. I really like the 1 mile range it is legit 1 mile with low cover.
Re: TT or sportdog?
awesome thanks for the info. im leaning towards the SD just because it looks so simple to use. the TT looks a little more confusing.
Re: TT or sportdog?
I've always heard that TT was superior, but I've have good luck with my SD. No complaints thus far, and their customer service is pretty impressive.
Re: TT or sportdog?
My tt won't range but 1/4 mile line of sight and is advertised for 1 mile. Sent it to tritonics twice and they couldn't fix it. All kind of excuses but none was there problem. I am going sportdog this season

Re: TT or sportdog?
I had sport dog. I sold it. They had incosistant shock. I did a test in the yard. Sport dog replaced the collar same thing. I went with TT pro 100 best collar I have ever had.

TT or sportdog?
Everyone I know who seriously does dog work, has TT. I owned SD 400 and I had many problems, inconsistent, transmitter didn't send a signal. I will agree and say they had good customer service but with my TT, I haven't needed customer service and that says a lot I feel.

Re: TT or sportdog?
I am really glad this has popped up and I hope that we can get most of the forum member to respond to this because this is a question that is on my mind as I am getting closer to getting my first Ecollar, not to mention all the new people we as a forum collect on a daily basis (some new to dogs some not).

Neither. Look at the Dogtra 2500 T&B

I have the G3 also, but I reach for the Dogtra T&B first most of the time. I have not had any problems with the G3. I just like the beeper on the T&B for locating or changing directions.

Re: TT or sportdog?
I was going to post this exact same topic. I have a sd 400 and have never once had any problems with it. Had it submerged in water during retrieving drills and left in my jeep here in Phoenix during summer for weeks at a time and still running strong. I'm leaning towards the 1875 unless someone can convince me otherwise
Re: TT or sportdog?
I have SD 1800 and added beeper 3 years ago. Collar is 7 years old and have never had a problem. Had TT before that, The Judge, loved it until someone stole it. Bought the SD because I needed one Asap and that was the only collar availabe where I was at.
Re: TT or sportdog?
im leaning towards the 1875 as well. i know TT makes good products but SD has a decent reputation as well. i might have to try SD first and if dont like it TT here i come.

TT or sportdog?
The other thing I forgot to mention is the type of stimulation. With SD, it seemed like a harsher shock when the button was pressed, I know, I've tried it a few times when it wasn't working. The TT is less shock and more PITA nuisance that won't go away if the button is held. I've tried this one as well. I wanted to know what my dog was going through when he got a correction. It seems like I have had better reaction to the TT for whatever reason.

Re: TT or sportdog?
The sportdog, tritronics, and dogtra all are good collars. I have lost a dogtra hand held in november in northern sd, went all winter and spring was mowed and bailed and found. It still worked. I use tritronics to train retrievers. Better fine tuning for corrections on pro models. For bepper collars i run dogtra.
Re: TT or sportdog?
I sold my TT to replace it with a Dogtra 2500T&B. Excellent unit and very versatile with the beeper being part of it and not needing another hunk of junk on my dog's neck. I think TT is falling behind the technology,

Re: TT or sportdog?
TT here all the way
Used the SD and DT and Dogtra,..always ended up going back to TT either the sport version or I love my pro 100 fits in the hand and buttons are where they need to be and it has real levels
aand yes DT and SD have great customer service I was talking to them quite a it
TT I have spoke to maybe twice in well over 10 years for a part or a remarry issue on an older collar which was corrected over the phone in less the 5 minutes

Re: TT or sportdog?
I used and lved a TT collar for ages. It finally died and i upgrade with the trade up program. Since then i have had issues both with the electronics and customer service. I think they are getting lower quality than they used to be bt still running of reputation. I went sportdog and like it so far. Got the 1825. I like the new dogtra models too but its a hard sell on the rheostatic dial for me. I like to click it up a notch without looking...
Edit: also really like the vibrate/ pager correction level that dogtra and sportdog have. I have found that most issues trained correctly can be handled with this. It gets their attention BETTER and allows them to think through things without jumping to escape the correction. I also like that I can vibrate condition earlier and this can prvent some issus like running off and running trash (or chasing my goats...) from becoming habit before the dog is old / mature enough for standard ecollar work. Wish I had this option 2 years ago...

Re: TT or sportdog?
Thanks all for the advice and tips. I ended up getting the TT G3 upland unit. So far I'm pretty happy with it. One thing I have noticed is that the beeper is loud and pretty responsive when the dogs on point. It's not as complicated to use as I thought so that's a plus. I did however notice the options of sounds for differnt beeps are pretty limited. You can chose a beep sound and a hawk scream. Also the locate option comes in really handy and it's pretty cool that you can remotely turn the beeper on or mute from the remote
