What e-collar?

Post by SlickClowninMillie » Sun Feb 03, 2008 1:40 pm

I am new to the entire dog training scene and am starting to work with my young gsp female. I am wanting to purchase a e-collar and a beeper collar. Problem being, I am a college student so funds are limited. I didn't know if you guys had any suggestion on a route to take! Thanks again guys!

I highly recommend tri-tronics collars. I have had innotek, DT and there is no comparison. Some of my friends have Dogtra collars and seem to like them also. I think TT also has an accessory beeper you can put on any of their collars. (older model=more affordable)

I have a DT redhead 1200 that I got from bass pro for $200 I think. It has a 1200 yard range and nothing has gone wrong with it yet. It does not have a beeper but I think you can buy a model with one.

tri tronics are hard to beat but i have also had good luck with sportdog. you might want to check out the sportdog 1850 it has a nice beeper and all thefeatures of a higher dollar collar. With that being said it is hard to not go with a tri tronics.

I had a older tri-tronics when I started, Then I bought a DT and now I am back to Tri-Tronics. They are hard to beat. If you are looking to save I few dollars you may want to check out the collar clinic for a refurbished system.

Their website is http://www.collarclinic.com/

started with tri tronics

tried Dt Sportdog and dogtra..thank God I had a tri tronics on back up when the other collars failed me

they may be bit more but they are the only collar which can label themselves American Made and the hardy reliable collars

they are the long term collar not the turn a quick buck collar

Tri-tronics...they may cost a bit more but my first one is 6 years going strong...the beeper has been replaced twice but the collar is still going.

I would call the fellow at the Collar Clinic and ask his opinion since he refurbishes a lot of collars.

I agree with M1, being a college student and probably on a tight budget, I would look at the Collar clinic http://www.collarclinic.com/. They sell re-conditioned collars from some of the more popular manufacturers. Dogtra, Tri-Tronics, SportDog and DT are just some of the more popular brands. For a new one, look to spend nearly $300 + for a single unit depending on the options you want.

If you decide to go TT, PM me. I'll cut you a deal on my Pro 200 XLS. You can add a beeper accessory when you have the $.

I love mine, but I have some rat hole money and want to step up to a G2 Pro 500 2-dog.
