Video :: Point! Refining the Pointing Instinct

Post by grant » Tue Mar 15, 2005 8:14 pm

I thought the video was ok. I wouldn't buy it again.

Pros:
Shows use of sling method for teaching whoa. It worked well Bell, a bolder dog.

Cons:
Seemed to be training dogs that had been prepared for the current training session.

I thought it was just o.k. Nothing I would buy, thank goodness I was able to borrow it first. Funny that you liked the whoa training idea with the sling in the tree. My response was no way in heck would I ever whoa train a dog by slinging it off the ground. If you watch that dog it is absolutely scared sh@@less. Stub tail tucked down between the legs and cowering. Not how I want a dog to look while putting whoa on him. But, to each their own...

I didn't like it either at first. I've used it on a few bold dogs and it got their attention quick. I guess I'd only use it as a last resort...

I think the key is, like you've stated, "bold" dogs. I'm sure it would grab their attention quickly.
