GSp Information

Post by Ryan » Tue May 03, 2005 9:52 pm

Hi,
I am looking into getting a GSP in a few years when I graduate college and I would like to pick up a few good books. I am going to buy Wing and Shot for a training but I would like to get a book on the breed. What are the top 3 books you would recomend for information on this breed. Any website would be helpful too. Thanks guys/gals

PS any good breeders. Please breeders stay out of this question. I would like to hear from the people who oen the breed for a companion, family member and a hunting partner.

The New German Shorthaired Pointer is a good read. By Bebe Maxwell. Also The New Complete German Shorthaired Pointer by Robert McKowen is good, somewhat more updated. I think I like the 1st one a little better tho.

There is also Georgina Byrnes book. It might be rather expensive
now, it is a very big book full of all sorts of GSP information.
You could try Albiris.com for second hand books too, it might be there.

And if you scroll on through you will probably come across several UK books on GSP, these are worth a read for slightly differing viewpoints.

And if you want to research the origins of the breed there is
The Complete German Shorthaired Pointer by Sieger & Dewitz-Colpin which you can pick up cheap second hand - to me it is the
GSP "bible".

That should keep you busy..
