GunX 209 Primer Pistol
GunX 209 Primer Pistol
My trusty little Italian-built 209 primer pistol finally gave out on my one too many times, so I decided to buy a new primer pistol.
I did some research and a friend recommended I look at a GunX gun. I read up on them and decided to take the plunge. I bought a 209 pistol with lanyard ring. Delivered to my door it was $215. Pretty pricey for a blank gun, huh? Well, I don't think I will be buying another gun for a very LONG time. I checked this thing out immediatley. It weighs in at less than 16oz and is a spritely 7" long. When I have it strapped to my side you cannot even tell it's there. The trigger pull is light and crisp and the cylinder cycles flawlessly. The cylinder is a swing-out design with a push pin to push out spent rounds. It holds 6 shells and can be quickly reloaded in the field without worrying about lost pins or o-rings, etc. The guns is made of solid stainless steel, with an orange handle and solid ring for the lanyard. It is guaranteed for life.
Service from GunX was fast and pleasant. I got what I paid for.
People who have checked it out at events since I purchased it love it.

Re: GunX 209 Primer Pistol
How sturdy is the lanyard ring? Trying to decide to buy one with or without it.
Re: GunX 209 Primer Pistol
Very sturdy. The whole gun is guaranteed for life. I have had guys who have been in the sprt for a very long time drool over it.

Re: GunX 209 Primer Pistol
I'd like to throw my hat in the ring on the subject of the GunX pistol. Yes I sell them, so if that makes you suspicious, ya'll can quit reading now.
OK, you're still here. Good
I have been in the bird dog training/field trial/hunt test gig for over 20 years. I am an AKC judge of pointing dog events, I make and sell dog training equipment,,,,,on and on and on.
I have seen many, and I mean MANY POS starter pistols in that time. I have also seen lots of frustration when these do not fire. At worst, if the gun doesn't fire in an event, you could be screwed. At least, in a training situation, you loose some of that training opportunity. Many people do not realize how important that gun sound is in training.
It's like the Benelli shotgun commercial on TV when the Duck Commander dude says "I need three things from a shotgun.....BOOM,BOOM,BOOM!"
Same with a blank pistol.
I realize that times are tough right now, and roughly $250 is a lot to spend if you don't train much. We'll spend 40K on a truck, $600-$800 on a GPS shock em, 'find em' collar, almost a grand on a shotgun, etc. But we quibble over a hundie to buy a quality training tool.
It just makes sense to me to buy good quality once, take care of it, and have it work every time for many, many years to come. JMHO. Thank you for your time.
BOOM, BOOM, BOOM!

Re: GunX 209 Primer Pistol
I went with the gunx 209 and based on it's build, doubt I will ever need another unless I lose it and the orange grip is a great idea for that.
I don't like people who don't like dogs......
