Digital Cameras?
What cameras do you use when you hunt? I have a simple Nikon Cool Pix http://www.nikonusa.com/Nikon-Products/ ... S6200.html and it takes great shots, I also like it because it is small and fits on my belt. Just wondering if there is a recent camera out there that is durable, offers a nice zoom feature, and is lightweight (easy to carry). Any suggestions...Pro's Con's? Priced - around $300ish

My phone has an 8 mp camera in it, I use it.
For better pics, my wife has an 18 mp Canon Rebel T2i, but that one won't fit in a pocket.

Re: Digital Cameras?
In the past when I was taking photo's, I left the gun home. Then I carried a DSLR. Still will when My aim is to get photo's. But a few days ago I was at the Bi Mart and looking at point and shoot cameras. Saw a Nikon Coolpix L24 and bought it. Took it out yesterday the first time and didn't get any dog work. It will fit in a shirt pocket but I want to get a case for it that has a belt loop on it. Took a few landscape shot's and they came out pretty good. Good thing about it is if I break or loose it, I didn't morgage th house to get it, $120.
I pity the man that has never been loved by a dog!
Re: Digital Cameras?
I'm a fan of Canon cameras, and if I remember to bring a camera with my it's usually a Canon Digital ELPH. The one I have now is easy to use and has image stabilization. I also have an Olympus that is waterproof and shockproof. I have mixed emotions about the Olympus - most of the time I'm frustrated with it, but occasionally I get the stars to align and take some nice shots with it.
That said - the equipment has nothing to do with taking good pictures!

You get a chunk of glass like this, and it definitely helps, though.nj gsp wrote:

Re: Digital Cameras?
Good equipment certainly doesnt hurt, but I didn't mean image quality, I meant composition. When you look at a photo, you don't think about how sharp the focus, how much contrast, or whether the white balance is correct. You think only whether the image appeals to you or not - and it's how the shot is composed that accomplishes that.

Re: Digital Cameras?
We just purchased a Canon sx40 hs. Now it sure won't fit into a pocket. But it will fit into a camera bag that will attach to my belt or wear over my shoulder. Much lighter than our Nikon dslr. The Canon has a 35x zoom lens. We travel some outside the United States and this will be ton's easier than the dslr. We will be testing it week after next in Kansas. Hope this helps.
