ELECTRIC DOG HOME SECURITY?

Post by JIM K » Thu Sep 20, 2012 12:59 pm

i was thinking of getting a electric system to keep your dog from running off your home.i heard they are nice and you can let your dog loose in your yard without fence.
but like everything, i assume there is CON to system? maybe not.

thought maybe some of you have system in your home.i like idea that i could leave my dog loose around home while i work in yard.
you dont have to bury wires also is nice.

thanks jim k

Havahart wireless radial 2 dog fence is on sale right now on amazon and other sites with free shipping for 299.
this was rated best one .you can only use 2 collars on this system.
it goes 11 acres but tests with trees etc showed 4 acres.
mine is coming on oct 10th.
this will allow me to let whiskers loose in yard and i can do my yard work.

true. but i am only using it when i am home and out in yard working etc around house.
the RADIUS or circle is not perfect also.
on say 80 ft circle you can get area that is around 60 ft IN SOME SPOTS.
circle is affected by trees and cars in garage.
so its not perfect but is neat to let dog roam around your home.

Anyone not babysitting their pup sould be aware that dogs will run thru those e-fences given enough incentive.
Like tomato juice in beer....bad idea with which some get by.

i agree, my havahart tells me if he gets thru fence with loud beep.
i also would never let my SM loose unless i am at home or outside with him.
that is what i got it for.

Always the old wives tales about how you can't do this or that won't work. Had a deer run right through the middle of the yard and they chased until they slammed on the brakes at the boundary. I have 4 dogs on electric fence now and they never run through. I never have walked them through it or had them cross, always put them in my ATV or Truck to leave. I am so confident I will leave them out when I am gone for a couple of days. My GPS, Brittany, and Labs all have pretty high prey drive but they will avoid the zap at all costs. Buy the best equipment you can afford and stay away from the cheap chinese junk.

It's nice to be lucky.
It's wise to be cautious.

We have had the PetSafe Wireless E-fence for about 10 years, 1 lab & 4 GSP's. We live in the country and have had the same thing happen with deer & rabbit as Donnie. We do not have our dogs out if we are not home because we have neighbors that let their dogs run loose & they fight  Have we had a dog go through it, yes when we 1st got it the collar did not have adjustable stem & our lab would go through it. But that was years ago, the new collars can be adjusted to higher stem :D We got ours off ebay, it was a referbished one and we have not had any problems with it.

Enough said Petsafe cheap chinese unrealiable junk. I have a whole self full of them I have take as trade ins. Just don't hold up and totally unreliable. I would not let my dogs be left unsupervised if I had anything Pet Safe.
